Tae's Office, Late Night:
The clock ticked past 11 p.m. Papers were scattered across Tae's desk, her eyes burning from staring at the laptop screen.
The upcoming presentation with investors had been a mess, and despite trying, nothing seemed enough.
Her fingers pinched the bridge of her nose, shoulders tense. She didn't even hear the door open.
Kook: "You're still here?"
She looked up, startled. Jungkook stood at the doorway, holding two cups of coffee and a small bag of pastries.
Tae: "Koo... what are you doing here?"
Kook: "Yoongi-hyung said you hadn't left the office. So I came.
You've worked enough for three people today, bear."
Kook walked in, setting everything down on her desk with ease.Tae: "It's not enough. If I mess this up tomorrow—"Tae sighed, leaning back in her chair.
Kook: "You won't, my baby."
He crouched beside her chair, gently turning her chair toward him so she had no choice but to meet his gaze.Kook: "Because you're Kim Taehyung. And you don't fail. And even if you stumble guess what? You've got me now. I'll catch you."
Her chest tightened. His voice wasn't shaky this time. It wasn't desperate. It was steady. Solid. Like an anchor she didn't know she needed.
Kook: "Eat. Breathe. Let me handle the rest."He pushed the laptop aside and placed a pastry in her hand.
Tae: "You sound... different."
Tae blinked at him, her lips parting.Kook: "Not different. Just... sure. About you. About us."Kook gave a soft smile.
The air grew still. For the first time in years, her heart didn't panic. It settled.
She reached out, fingers brushing his jaw. He didn't flinch. Didn't look away. He leaned into her touch instead.
Tae: "Koo..."
Tae whispered, almost afraid of breaking the moment.Kook didn't wait this time. He stood, leaned down, and pressed his lips to hers.
Not rushed.
Not hesitant.
A slow, certain kiss. Like a promise sealed in warmth. Her hand slid to the back of his neck, holding him closer, while his thumb caressed her cheek. When they finally pulled away, both were breathless, but smiling.
Kook: "That's our new start."
Tae: "Yeah... it is."
She laughed softly, forehead resting against his.Months skip:
Months had passed since that late-night kiss in Tae's office. Things had changed slowly, gently, beautifully.
Jungkook wasn't just the boy from her past anymore. He was the man who showed up.
To every late-night meeting with snacks.
To every family dinner.
To every little breakdown and laugh.Taekook were going on dates and getting back to their old selfs.
The quality time they spent with eachother brought back the old days and the comforting and comfortable atmospere.
Yoonmin and Taekook went on a few couple dates. And everything is going on well.
And tonight... everyone else knew except Tae.
The rooftop was decorated softly fairy lights hanging across the railings, candles flickering on the tables, and the smell of Mrs. Jeon's fresh-baked pastries mixing with Yoongi's favorite wine.
