Taekook and Yoonmin are now in the hotel lobby, tired from the long journey.
Vmin are scanning the place. Kook was behind them, just close enough to listen, hands in his pant pockets, saying nothing.
He did not speak much after the last talk on the plane.
Yoongi: Reservation under Min Yoongi,”
He said to the receptionist, his voice calm. The woman at the desk smiled politely.
R: “Ah yes, Min Yoongi… There’s a small problem. Only two rooms available tonight.”
Yoongi: “Two?”
Yoongi blinked.R: “Y-Yeah. One room has a queen bed. The other… two singles.”
Tae’s head turned slowly. She already knew what was coming.
Yoongi: “Guess fate wants to play a little.”
Yoongi turned toward them with a sly smile.Jimin: “Yoongi-hyung and I will take the queen. Right, babe?”
Jimin giggled.Yoongi: “Good luck, kids.”
Yoongi just shrugged and picked up the keys.Tae: “Yah, what?”
Tae stepped forward, but they were already walking toward the elevator.Tae: “Jimin! Min Jimin!”
Jimin: “Sleep tight!”
Jimin turned back with a grin and blew a flying kiss. And just like that… they were gone.
She turned to Kook slowly. He didn’t look surprised at all.
Kook: “Let’s just go,”
He said, his voice soft. The room wasn’t too big. Two beds, clean sheets, a soft orange lamp by the window.
Tae dropped her bag quietly near the first bed and sat down, fingers fidgeting in her lap. Kook sat on the other one, facing the window.
No words were spoken. Only the quiet hum of the air conditioner and their breathing.
Later that night, Tae couldn’t sleep.
She turned on her side, her eyes drifting to the other bed.
Kook was asleep, one arm above his head, shirt slightly riding up from his waist. The blanket had slid down to his thighs.
She stared at him for a moment too long. Then, almost without thinking, she got up silently and walked over.
Her hands gently pulled the blanket up to his shoulders. She adjusted the corner near his foot too. Just like before.
She was about to turn around when she heard it,
Kook: “Still looking after me, huh?”
Her heart stopped.
He didn’t move. Eyes still closed. She stood there, frozen, fingers still clutching the edge of the blanket.
Tae: “I couldn’t sleep,”
She whispered.Kook: “Me neither,”
He replied, but made no move to open his eyes. She turned away quietly and went back to her bed, pulling the covers up and turning her back toward him.
Neither of them said anything else.
But both of them stayed awake longer than they’d admit.Next Day:
Taw woke up late, rubbing her eyes she stretched and sat up. She looked on teh opposite side of the bed and Kook is not there. Then she the water running from the bathroom.
And then she saw it.
Her scarf.
Folded neatly on her pillow.
And on top, a yellow sticky note in that familiar handwriting.“You always forget the things that keep you warm.”
—JShe knew he wrote it with a meaning behind it.
She hadn’t even realized she left it yesterday, probably at the cliff they stopped at for pictures. She thought the wind took it.
But he’d found it.
Carried it.
He left it here—soft, silent, warm.A breath slipped past her lips. She touched the note like it might disappear if she pressed too hard.
She didn’t throw it away just like all others.
Just gently tucked it between the pages of her journal to add the little note to the stack which is building in her office desk.Later:
All went to the cafe, and Tae was the last one to join them.
Tae stepped in slowly, scarf wrapped around her neck, like she never lsot it.
Her eyes met Jungkook’s for just a second.
He didn’t smile. Didn’t nod.
Just looked.
And then looked away. But Tae’s gaze lingered.
Jimin noticed. Of course she does.
Jimin: “You’re staring, bear”
Jimin whispered with a smile.Tae: "No, I wasn't."
Tae looked away quickly.Jimin: “You never stare at anyone like that unless it’s... him.”
Jimin leaned closer, voice playful.Tae didn’t answer.
Jimin: “You thought you lost the scarf,”
Tae: “He left it on my pillow. With a note.”
Soon Kook came with his order and sat beside Tae.
Time skips:
At night in the hotel:
Tae was in the hotel room brading her hair infront of the mirror from the past 10 min, but the strands keep falling out.
And now her arms are tired.
Then she felt his hands slow and careful reached up and gently took the strands from her fingers.
Kook: "Let me, I've seen you do this more than a few times now."
Tae said nothing. Just watched him through the mirror.
His eyes were focused, gentle. His fingers moved slowly, maybe slower than necessary.Once he was done, he didn’t move away. His fingers lingered at the nape of her neck, brushing over her skin like a memory he missed holding.
Their eyes met in the mirror.
Kook: “You look like the girl I fell in love with…”
He said softly.Tae throat felt tight.
Tae: “I’m not that girl anymore,” she whispered.
Kook: “I know. I think I love this one more.”
Kook’s voice dropped lower, steadier. Her lips parted slightly. But nothing came out.
The moment stretched. Heavy and warm.
His fingers were still touching her skin. Just barely.
Taehyung looked away first.
Tae: "I'll use the washroom."
She said while standing up.But behind her, Jungkook just stood there.
And smiled to himself.Tell me how it was.....
Sorry if I made too long to comeback and thank you for waiting with so much patience.
