Next Day
The next day came too fast.
Everyone was still sleeping in their rooms, as it was only 6 AM, and they had no work to do.
As Kook had said he would be going to the hospital, he woke up early and started his morning routine.
By the time he finished his stretches and freshened up, it was already 7:30. He made his way downstairs to prepare breakfast for himself before leaving.
But as he descended the stairs, he heard the clicking sound of a keyboard.
For some reason, he already knew, or at least, he had a good guess, who it was.
On the Other Side
As usual, Tae had woken up in the middle of the night and was now working at the dining table, munching on an apple. A few empty strawberry shake bottles were lined up beside her.
Tae: "Oops! I drank you too."
She fake-gasped and smiled to herself as she reached for another strawberry shake bottle from the fridge, unaware that she had spoken loud enough for the person coming down the stairs to hear her.
Unintentionally, a small smile appeared on his face when he heard her self-talk.
As he debated whether to go and make himself breakfast or not, his legs unconsciously carried him toward the kitchen.
Tae, still humming a song they used to sing together, turned around, only to flinch when she saw him standing there like a statue. Their eyes locked, and for a second, everything stilled. The fridge door remained open.
Moments passed. Neither spoke, but their eyes did.
One was emotionless, while the other poured everything out.The fridge beeped, breaking their silent stare.
Tae quickly closed the door and stood frozen for a second. Kook walked past her, snapping her out of her trance.
She watched as he searched through the cabinets.
After a brief hesitation, she walked back toward the dining area, placed her milkshake on the table, and then returned to the kitchen.
He was still looking through the cabinets.
Without saying anything, she opened the fridge, took out a tray of eggs, and placed it on the counter.
Then, she brought out bread, milk, and some vegetables everything needed for breakfast.
Tae: "Morning."
She greeted him with a light tap on the kitchen island, assuming he would ignore her.But what she didn't know was that he was noticing everything.
The chocolate wrappers, the half-eaten apples, and the empty strawberry milkshake bottles scattered on the table, she had clearly been sitting there for hours.
Kook simply nodded, his eyes shifting toward the food she had placed. She had chosen every single item he usually ate in the morning.
Tae: "Going to the hospital?"
In return, Kook nodded twice.
Feeling awkward and unsure of what else to say, she quietly left, returning to her work.
She had decided to give him time, to not disturb him.
Maybe not now.
Kook watched her retreating figure, then looked back at the food before exhaling a deep sigh. He turned away, not wanting to linger any longer.
