Next day:

The wedding shopping was over, but the tension between Taekook was anything but normal.

Tae woke up with a pounding headache, trying to avoid Jungkook as much as possible since they returned.

She sighed, rubbing her temples, before heading downstairs as Jimin had already called her twice for breakfast.

She greeted Namjin and Hobi, who were already eating.

Just then, Kook walked in with Lizjen, Suga, and Mia, chatting and laughing about something.

Their eyes met for a brief second, but Kook was the first to look away.

Jimin, who was walking toward Tae, mumbled under her breath, "coward."

Tae giggled softly, shaking her head.

Everyone gathered in the dining room, discussing random topics and upcoming events while eating.

Mia: "Oppa, why are you so quiet?" she asked, nudging Jungkook with her elbow.

Of course, Tae noticed.
And so did Jimin.

Jungkook gave a small smile before continuing the conversation.

Jimin: "Bear, come help me in the kitchen for a second?" she asked, noticing the shift in Tae's mood.

Tae nodded and followed her.

They spent some time keeping Jin company, mostly tailing behind him, snacking on strawberries and sharing bites, until Jimin was called away by Yoongi.

After a while, Jungkook stepped outside to get some fresh air.

At the same time, Yoonmin approached Tae, who was still sitting with Jin.

Yoongi: "Baby bear, go get some fresh air too."

Tae gave them a side-eye before sighing and doing as they said.

As she stepped outside, she noticed Jungkook standing alone in the garden.

She glanced back only to see Jimin and Yoongi grinning at her, subtly motioning toward Jungkook with encouraging smiles.

Yoongi: "Just talk to him,"
He whispered before walking away with Jimin.

Jungkook heard the footsteps and turned around.

Of course, it was her.

They stared at each other in silence.

Tae: "How many more days do you plan to avoid me?"
She asked, looking up at the sky.

Kook: "I just... didn't want to cause any more pain."
He sighed, his gaze flickering to her face, taking in her delicate features.

Tae: "And you think avoiding me erases everything? That it makes it easier?"
She said with a humourless chuckle.

Kook: "What do you want me to say?"
His voice was monotone, but Tae still flinched slightly.

Tae took a step toward him, her face a mix of emotions.

Tae: "Say anything, Jungkook.
Say you hate me.
Say you don't care.
Just... stop acting like we never happened."

Silence.

Kook: "It's not that simple."

He looked away, unable to meet her eyes because he knew, he knew, he was the reason behind their pain.

Tae: "Right. Because for you, leaving was easy."
She whispered bitterly, her eyes welling up with unshed tears.

Jungkook's gaze snapped back to hers, his eyes darkening with emotion.

For the first time, Tae saw anger there.

And for every single damn reason, he knew he deserved her anger.

Yet, he couldn't stop himself from saying it.

Kook: "You think it was easy?"
His voice was dangerously low.

Kook: "You think walking away from the only person I ever loved was easy?"
His eyes burned into hers.

Kook: "You don't know everything, Tae. You never did."
Jungkook exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair.

For a second, Tae swore she saw something else in his eyes, something deeper, something hidden, something that she had to know.

Tae: "Then tell me, Koo. Make me understand."
Her voice cracked slightly as she swallowed the lump in her throat.

She deserved to know. She wasn't the one at fault.

But instead of answering...

He just stared at her.

And then, he walked away.

Leaving Tae standing there.

Alone.

Again.

She remained there for a few more moments before finally returning inside.

When she stepped back into the house, her expression was unreadable.

But Jimin knew.

Jimin: "What happened?" she asked gently, walking toward Tae.

Tae shook her head.

Tae: "Nothing new. Just Jungkook being Jungkook... all over again."

Kook's POV:

I walked away. Again.

Because I couldn't answer her.

I couldn't give her the explanation she deserved.

I got into my car and started driving toward the hospital, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

But my own words echoed in my head like a curse.

"You think walking away from the only person I ever loved was easy?"

I never meant to say that.

At least not in front of her.

I wasn't supposed to let her know.

I exhaled shakily, my fingers tightening around the wheel.

This wasn't over yet. I knew that.

Not even close.

Tell me how it was...
