After a few minutes, he found the ring buried slightly in the sand.
Without a word, Kook picked it up and held it out to Tae.
Tae stared at it, at him, and suddenly, everything snapped.
Tae: "You left me."
She blurted out.
Tae's breath was uneven, her head spinning from the alcohol, but her words were clear.Jungkook stiffened on the ground.
Tae: "You left me, and I never stopped waiting for you."
Kook: "Tae."
Jungkook stared at her, his heart pounding.Tae: "I tried to hate you, Koo, I did."
She laughed bitterly while tears were running down her eyes.Kook: "Tae, stop-"
Tae: "No,"
Her voice cracked, her eyes burning.Tae: "You don't get to tell me to stop.
Not when you're the one who left!
Not when you broke me first and then showed up like nothing happened!
Acting like nothing happened.
Not minding me.
Ignoring me like I don't exist.
Ignoring me like you don't know me.
Like we are strangers."Kook: "You think it was easy for me?"
Jungkook's jaw clenched.Tae: "DO I look like I care? NO, I don't care if it was easy for you or not."
She shoved at his chest weakly.Tae: "You still did it! And the worst part? I hate myself for still-"
She stopped in the middle of the sentence, her eyes wide, like she was trying to keep something from him.Jungkook's breath hitched. For still what?
Tae: "Forget it."
Tae squeezed her eyes shut.Kook: "No, you started this. Say it."
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her close.Tae: "I hate myself for still loving you."
Tae bit her lip, shaking her head, but the words spilled out anyway.Tae: "The night you left me, telling me that I'm cheating on you, you never listened to me.
You never gave me a chance to speak.
You left me alone while I was eating, you kept accusing me of things I never did.
You told me you felt alone, but did you ever think that along with you, I felt alone too?
You spoke to me then, and you're still speaking to me now, with that same shitty, dumb tone of yours."Tae: "Even though we lived together the 1 month before you left me , it felt like we lived worlds apart.
You said you don't trust me.
You said you couldn't trust me.
You said you couldn't give us a chance.
And the way you so easily said we should separate our ways..."Tae hiccupped, wiping angrily at her eyes.
Kook: "Tae."
Tae: "Don't 'Tae' me, Jungkook.
You said you didn't love me.
You doubted our love,
you doubted my love,
you doubted your damn love.
Our everything.
You made me feel like I was sleeping around with other people."Kook: "Kim Taehyung."
He snapped at her, making her flinch, and sob even harder as she hit him weakly on his chest. He could not stand hearing Tae degrade herself. He knew she could not and would not do something like that.
He was so stupid and dumb, and now he had no choice but to face the mess he had created.
Tae: "What now, are you getting angry because I said that out loud? You're getting angry?"
She said, shoving him.She looked at him for a long moment, her eyes hazy with alcohol, her heart brimming with everything she wanted to shout out for years.
In front of him, she wanted to let it all out.
Just in front of him.Tae: "Walk away. Why aren't you walking away now? Like always."
Kook just stands there.
Tae: "This time, I'm the one who's going to walk away. Maybe then you'll understand something."
With that, she turned and started to walk away from him.Tae: "Did everything set you free?"
She said, looking back at him over her shoulder.Kook: "W-what?"
His voice was broken, almost a whisper.Tae: "Since you let go of something that wasn't real, that is probably me, I guess it set you free.
And I guess it brought you some kind of profit too."
She said it before turning away and walking away from him.Kook's POV:
The moment Tae walked away, Jungkook felt something inside him snap.
He stood frozen, staring at her retreating figure, her last words echoing in his head.
"Did everything set you free?"
No.
He felt anything but free.
Jungkook sucked in a shaky breath, but it did nothing to ease the burning in his chest.
His hands clenched into fists at his sides, his nails digging into his palms.
His throat was tight, his vision blurred, and before he knew it, a broken, bitter laugh escaped him.
He hates himself for hurting her.
For making Tae think of herself like that.
"Since you let go of something that wasn't real."
How could she think that? How could she ever believe that what they had wasn't real?
Jungkook turned on his heel, walking in the opposite direction, needing to get away before the weight of everything crushed him right there.
He didn't even realize he was shaking until he stumbled near the villa's balcony, gripping the railing for support.
His breaths came out uneven, chest heaving like he had run a marathon, but no matter how much air he tried to pull in, it still felt like he was suffocating.
Tears burned in his eyes, but he refused to let them fall.
Not here.
Not now.But the second he heard footsteps behind him, he stiffened.
Jimin. Yoongi. Bogum.
They had been there. They had heard everything.
Jungkook shut his eyes tightly, his grip on the railing tightening.
Jimin: "Jungkook..."
Jimin's voice was soft, hesitant. She had always known how to read him the best, always seeing through him.
Kook: "Don't,"
He whispered, voice hoarse.Yoongi: "You need to talk to her."
Yoongi sighed deeply.Kook: "Didn't you hear her? She hates me."
Jungkook let out a humourless chuckle.Tell me how it was...
Stay tuned 😁😁
