Before Tae could say anything more, a presence interrupted them.

Her father.

She turned around only to see her father glaring at both of them.

And then his eyes wandered around the hall until his eyes fell on a particular person.

Jungkook.

Mr. Kim: "Long time, Mrs. Jeon."

Mrs. Jeon: "Yes, Mr. Kim."
She said with a tight-lipped smile.

Tae could sense the uncomfortable air forming between them.

Then he started speaking to Tae about some random stuff.

Tae tried her best to give attention to Mrs. Jeon, but he made it hard for her.

When Mrs. Jeon left, Mr. Kim said bye to Tae and left. With one last glance at Jungkook, she turned and walked away.

He was there until Tae was out of sight, and he (Mr. Kim) walked straight toward Jungkook, who was speaking with Hobi and Josh.

Soon the hallway was quiet. No one was around.

Mr. Kim: "Come with me."
He ordered, not waiting for a response from Kook, and started to walk.

Kook knew the moment he saw Mr. Kim coming his way this conversation was going to happen.

Mr. Kim: "I will keep this short, Jungkook."
He said while turning around, facing Kook with arms crossed.

And Kook knew his next words.

Mr. Kim: "Stay away from my daughter."

And Kook almost rolled his eyes.

Kook: "Why?"
He said this time, maybe he thought to fight back.

Mr. Kim: "She doesn't know the truth. And she never will."
He said, stepping a bit closer towards Kook.

Kook inhaled sharply, his hands forming a fist.

Kook: "You took everything from me, and now you want me to act like nothing happened?"
He finally said, voice low but firm, mostly trying to control his emotions.

Mr. Kim: "I don't care what you lost, Jungkook."
He paused for a few seconds.

Mr. Kim: "I did what was necessary. And I will do it again if I have to."
He said coldly.

Kook: "You ruined two lives because of your pride and ego, Mr. Kim."
He said with a bitter chuckle.

Mr. Kim: "No, Jungkook. I saved my daughter from a life she would have regretted."
He said, making Kook rethink whether he should continue speaking to him or not.

Kook shook his head, feeling the same helpless anger he had felt years ago.

Kook: "You can't just decide that."

Mr. Kim: "But I did, Jungkook. And look where we are now."
He said, slightly tilting his head.

Kook: "Where?
I don't see her as happy as you said she would be if she got married to a guy you chose.
Did she choose him?
Do you think she is going to forgive us once she gets to know everything that happened in the past nearly five years?"
He vented it out.

Mr. Kim: "She's finally in a place where she belongs. Don't mess that up."
Then, Mr. Kim leaned in slightly, voice dropping to a warning.

Though he was affected by the words, he didn't want to show it.

Kook: "And if I don't listen?"
Kook met his gaze, his eyes burning like fire.

Mr. Kim: "Then you'll have no one to blame but yourself when I make sure you disappear for good this time again."
Mr. Kim smirked, stepping back.

With that, he left from there, leaving Kook's chest burning with words he couldn't say.

He had lost Tae once.

And Mr. Kim was making sure he lost Tae again.

It's been half an hour since the discussion had ended. Kook was still in the living room.

When he was going towards the stairs, he saw Tae walking out of the kitchen with some strawberries and chocolates.

The entire day, she had avoided Jungkook. And he had done the same.

But as she was walking out, she heard a voice.

Kook: "Tae."

For a second, she froze.
Her brain was still processing the voice.

She finally turned slowly towards him.

Kook stood there, his expression was nothing but blank.

Tae: "What do you want, Kook?"
She asked while gulping.

Kook: "Just to talk."
He said hesitantly.

Tae: "Don't stir me up, Kook. I can't do this right now."
She said, exhaling sharply, shaking her head as if saying no while closing her eyes.

Kook: "Tae--"
He stepped closer.

Tae: "I'm exhausted, Koo."
She interrupted him, her voice softer this time, her eyes brimming with water.

He looked into her eyes once she opened them.

Tae: "Good night."
She said without giving him any chance.

And with that, she walked away.

Because right now, she wasn't ready.

Maybe she was exhausted.
Maybe she needed a break.
Maybe she didn't want this anymore.
Maybe she wanna give up now.

Tell me how it was...
