"So what are you gonna be for Halloween this year?" Kurt asked, turning to Brittany and Melanie.

"I'm going as a peanut allergy," Brittany replied.

Melanie furrowed her brows, sharing a confused look with Kurt. "...Well, I do admire the creativity," she said, receiving a smile from the blonde cheerleader.

"Great news, guys!" Mr. Schue called out, entering the choir room. "I've had a little inspiration. This week's musical lesson isn't really a lesson... it's a musical!" he announced.

"Oh, please be Evita, please be Evita..." Rachel hoped aloud, looking up in anticipation.

"Let it be Mamma Mia," Melanie muttered with crossed fingers and closed eyes.

"Rocky Horror," Mr. Schue declared.

Melanie opened one eye, tilting her head at the choice. "I've never seen it," Finn admitted.

"Mr. Schue?" Rachel interjected.

"Yep?" he responded.

"While I admire your choice of the groundbreaking '70s musical, aren't we worried that the adult themes might be a point of controversy?" Rachel asked.

"I'm with Rachel," Melanie chimed in. "Back in Texas, there was outrage when our school tried to do Rent. They even had to cancel the show. I mean, there's no way the school's gonna approve this."

"Isn't that the whole point of the arts? Pushing boundaries, doing things people say you can't do for the sake of self-expression? Don't worry, I've got it all figured out. I cut out some of the more risqué sections, and I'm sending home permission slips to make sure your parents are okay with it," Mr. Schue explained, handing out the permission slips. "We're also going to charge admission and use the proceeds to help pay for transportation to nationals in New York. Okay, let's talk about casting."

"Oh! Finn and I will play Brad and Janet," Rachel immediately offered.

"And I'll be playing the guy in the wheelchair, right?" Artie asked.

"That's what I was thinking," Mr. Schue agreed. "And I thought Kurt could play the role of Frank-N-Furter."

"No. There's no way I'm playing a transvestite in high heels, fishnets, and lipstick," Kurt declined.

"Why? Because that look was *so* last season?" Santana quipped, earning a glare from Kurt.

"I'll do it," Mike volunteered.

"Really?" Tina asked, surprised, turning to her boyfriend. "It's like the male lead," she reminded him.

"I know, but I'm feeling a little more confident about my singing voice after our duets project," Mike explained.

"Great! I have no problem with that. Now, we're a little short on female roles, so we're going to have to double up on Columbias and Magentas," Mr. Schue explained.

"It's standard practice on Broadway. It'll preserve our voices," Rachel added in her usual know-it-all manner.

"I'd like to preserve you... in a jar... in my basement," Mercedes muttered.

"Sam, I'd like you to play the role of the creature," Mr. Schue continued.

"From the Black Lagoon?" Sam asked, smiling slightly when he caught Melanie chuckling out of the corner of his eye.

"Rocky. He's like the Frankenstein character, but blonde. You'll kill the part—he's cute, just like you," Quinn said, smiling at her boyfriend. Melanie quickly turned back to the front, trying not to focus on their flirting.
