"Did you hear?" Brittany asked over the phone.

"Yes. Mercedes just told me," Artie answered.

"You're going, right?" Mercedes asked, beeping herself into the call.

"Only if there's liquor, because a Rachel Berry party is not something I can do sober," Santana said.

"But it's Alcohol Awareness Week," Melanie pointed out.

"Precisely. And I'm aware of how much fun alcohol is. Let's ask Puckerman," Santana said, dialing Puck.

"You're go for Puck," Puck answered.

"Noah, it's Santittany, Artcedes, and Mouse. Can your friend score some wine coolers?" Santana asked.

"No, but his ID can," Puck replied as the group all met up in the hallway.

"Well, if we're all in, it's settled. The Rachel Berry House Party Trainwreck Extravaganza is officially a go," Mercedes declared.

As the group dispersed, Melanie walked down the hall, her mind still buzzing with excitement about the party. Spotting Sam up ahead, she quickened her pace to catch up.

"Hey, Sam! You heard about the party, right?" she asked, a smile lighting up her face.

Sam nodded, turning to her with a curious expression. "Yeah, Santana told me. Rachel's hosting it, right?"

Melanie grinned, bouncing on her toes. "Yep! It's at her place."

Sam's eyebrows lifted slightly. "That sounds...," he started, trailing off with a smirk.

"...not fun?" Melanie finished for him, her grin widening.

Sam chuckled, nodding. "Exactly."

She shrugged playfully. "Well, Puck's bringing booze, so at least there's that."

Sam shot her a teasingly shocked look, raising his eyebrows. "Melanie Park, I think glee club has corrupted you!"

She laughed, giving him a light shove on the shoulder. "Oh, please. For all you know, I partied all the time back in Texas!"

Sam gave her a skeptical, playful look, tilting his head. "Really?"

"Okay, fine, I didn't," she admitted with a sheepish grin. After a moment, her eyes sparkled with excitement. "Actually, this is my first real party."

They reached his locker, and Sam began unlocking it, turning to put his books away. As he did, Melanie found herself watching him, her eyes tracing the way his muscles flexed under his shirt as he moved. Her gaze drifted over his strong arms, then to the curve of his shoulders, and finally to the sharp lines of his side profile. He was so focused on his books that he didn't notice her staring—until he closed the locker door with a soft thud and turned to catch her.

"What?" he asked, tilting his head, his eyes meeting hers with that easygoing smile.

Melanie's cheeks heat up, realizing she's been staring. She clears her throat awkwardly, trying to play it off. "Nothing," she muttered."Anyway, I'll see you at the party!" she says brightly, flashing him a quick smile before turning and walking off, her heart racing.

Sam watches her go, a soft smile still on his lips as she disappears around the corner.

Rachel's party so far... was a disappointment. Everyone sat around in her "Oscar party"-themed renovated basement, looking bored, each holding a wine cooler. Well, everyone except Santana and Sam, who were making out on the couch in the corner. Melanie grimaced at the sight of the couple before turning her gaze down to the wine cooler in her hand.
