Melanie stood at her locker with Sam. "So, Finn was choking on a gumball, and Quinn gave him mouth-to-mouth... to save his life?" she asked, furrowing her brows, clearly not buying the story.
Sam nodded.
"And... do... you... believe her?" she asked slowly.
"Yeah, I mean, I totally choked on a gumball once," Sam replied with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
Melanie simply nodded at the blonde boy, who was clearly in denial. "I just feel like she's slipping away," Sam sighed. "I need to do something to impress her, win her back."
"...You shouldn't have to do anything to keep her interested other than be yourself," Melanie pointed out.
Sam quickly changed the subject, trying to deflect. "Hey, do girls like Justin Bieber?" he asked, a twinkle in his eye.
"Maybe 12-year-old ones," Melanie chuckled, looking up at Sam and practically seeing the gears turning in his head. "Sam, no," she stated, knowing exactly what he was thinking.
"Sam, yes," he responded with a grin.
"I don't think Bieber is how you get the girl," she replied.
He shook his head. "It's exactly how I get her. My dad always said there are two surefire ways to get a woman to love you: take her hunting and rock 'n' roll. And who's more rock 'n' roll than Justin Bieber?" he said excitedly.
"...So many people," Melanie muttered. "Also, never take a girl hunting. I don't think this is advice to live by," she added.
Sam backed away excitedly, shaking his head. "Just you wait! Sam Evans is about to be Bieberfied!" he declared before turning and walking forward.
"Bieberfied?" Melanie repeated, muttering with a playful roll of her eyes. She was about to reach into her locker when it was slammed shut. She looked up to see a raging Sue Sylvester, who shoved her to the side, causing her to trip and fall into Artie, who luckily caught her.
Sue continued her rampage down the hall. "You know how I feel about hats!" she seethed, snatching Finn's hat off his head and throwing it aside before slamming Tina into a locker. "None of you should be making eye contact with me," she hissed. "Get out, go!" she barked as a group of students rushed past her.
"Get used to this abuse, Glee kids!" she yelled. "I've got nothing but time," she added, grabbing Lauren's folders out of her hands and throwing them across the floor. "Nothing but time," she repeated ominously.
Melanie and Artie stared at Sue's angry, retreating figure. "Did that just happen?" Artie asked.
"How does she not have a lawsuit?" Melanie mused.

"This cannot be happening," Tina muttered in disbelief.
"This seems like a terrible idea," Artie agreed.
"Guys, it's not up for discussion, okay? Now, it's no secret Coach Sylvester has taken her licks—"
"I mean, just wanky," Santana interrupted.
"And I believe she could use a little sympathy from us," Mr. Schue continued.
"Sympathy? From us? Uh-uh," Mercedes scoffed.
"Yeah, all she's ever done is make our lives miserable," Quinn chimed in.
"She got exactly what she deserved," Santana agreed, crossing her arms.
