Melanie rushed through the crowded halls of McKinley on her way to the glee club, which had somehow slipped even further down the high school totem pole—a descent Melanie hadn't thought possible. On the bright side, there was a silver lining for Melanie: her ability to go unnoticed. Invisibility, it seemed, came with its perks—chief among them, avoiding the dreaded slushie facials. And she intended to keep it that way.
Once in the choir room, Melanie noticed Quinn cleaning off Finn's face by the drum set. "What happened?" she asked, sitting down next to Kurt.
"Karofsky got Finn," Mercedes answered, leaning across Kurt.
"No," Melanie gasped, to which Mercedes responded with a somber nod.
"The slushie war has commenced," Kurt stated.
"And if Finn and Quinn got nailed, none of us are safe," Mercedes added. Melanie groaned.
"Okay, guys, we're a little behind for Sectionals, thanks to our Sue Sylvester detour," Mr. Schue began, walking into the choir room, "but you guys seem to really enjoy doing mash-ups, right? And I wanna keep you guys fired up. Plus, there's an important lesson to be learned with mash-ups. Sometimes things are so different, they don't feel like they go together, but the big difference between them is what makes them great, like... chocolate and bacon," he stated.
"Or glee club and football," Finn added, with Quinn still wiping the purple slush off his face.
"Exactly. But you've proven that it is a great combination," Mr. Schue agreed. "So, here is my personal favorite song, and your homework for the week is to find an unexpected mash-up to go with it," he said, handing each member sheet music.
Melanie grimaced looking at the song title. "This is your personal favorite," she mumbled.
"Bust a move?" Kurt questioned.
"Yeah, this song is old school," Mercedes smiled.
"Alright, Artie," Mr. Schue called.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Try to follow along on the bass. Finn, take us through it," he instructed.
"Uh, I'm sorry Mr. Schuester, I got corn syrup in my eye," Finn said.
"Okay, uh, Puck, how about it?" the teacher suggested.
"I don't really groove on Young MC," he said.
"I am shocked at the lack of leading man ambition in this room right now," Rachel stated.
"It's okay, Rachel. I guess I'm gonna have to show these guys how it's done," Mr. Schuester said, unbuttoning his shirt. The room exclaimed while Melanie quirked her brow at the teacher.
"Bust it!" he sang, turning to the students. "This here's a tale for all the fellas tryin' to do what those ladies tell us. Get shot down 'cause you're overzealous, play hard to get, females get jealous," his voice echoed, dancing with Mike and Matt.
As the melody flowed, Mr. Schue weaved through the students, who swayed to the rhythm."Ok, smarty, go to a party Girls are scantily clad and showin' body A chick walks by you wish you could sex her But you're standin' on the wall like you was Poindexter"
"movie's showin', so you're goin' Could care less about the five you're blowin' Theatre gets dark just to start the show Then you spot a fine woman sittin' in your row" The cheerios stood, joining in with their backing vocals as Mr. Schue spun Artie around.
"She's dressed in yellow," Mr. Schue sang passionately. "she says 'hello Come sit next to me, you fine fellow!'
