"If this were solely about you and your personal choice, we wouldn't be having this discussion. However, it's not, and you must adhere to the wishes for the future of Beom Group and our family. I don't want to hear another word about your desires. The contract with the Eun family is settled, and the marriage will proceed as planned.

Send Myung an apology and prepare to fulfill the role I raised you for."

Ki's expression was one of torment and fury, reflecting his understanding of his father's unwavering belief in his principles. The indoctrination from his father and grandfather was still present. "Father, I respect you as the head of our family, but I cannot acquiesce to the sheer disrespect shown by your disregard for my feelings. I can't go through with this," Ki declared, his voice resolute in the decision.

In a fit of anger, Ki's father hurled the brandy glass across the room.

He turned towards Ki. "You have a choice, and I'm sure you know what I'm about to say. You either marry Myung or leave this family and forge your own life without the family name. I will give you a month to decide between marrying Myung and leaving Korea...It's your choice."

His father left the room and Ki was standing there thinking this was a no-brainer.... He still had to go to Myung and sit down with her and explain himself.. he felt ripping the bandaid off and leaving would be better.

Ki's mother could see the anguish in his eyes; she yearned only to see her son happy, yet she was consumed with worry for his future. Her husband was a stern man who would disown their son if he defied his father's wishes.

Ki offered a smile, hoping to alleviate his mother's fears, but deep down he knew the truth. After embracing her, he retreated to his room. There, Ki's father sat in the bedroom, ensconced in his favorite chair. Mrs. Beom stormed in, her anger palpable. "Why must you be so obstinate? Does it truly matter if he chooses to forge his path in this forsaken world? Your foolishness is boundless. Wealth has blinded you to the essence of living and life itself." She went to shower and went to bed.

The father sat for hours stoked in his anger.
