KI and Lisa embarked on a journey to the countryside; he was eager for her to experience Korea from a historical and cultural perspective. She consented, and they set off for a two-day trip. Meanwhile, Lisa's grandmother was organizing a party to introduce her to Seoul's affluent families.
Despite Lisa's reservations about being the focal point at such an event, she resolved to participate.
During the long drive, Ki and Lisa conversed for hours, and Lisa began to regard him as a very special person in her life. She would occasionally glance at him, feeling a spark of attraction. Meanwhile, Myung was preoccupied with planning her party, intent on revealing Lisa's background and accusing her of stealing her man.
She was conversing with her father, who had forgotten his promise to her. "Lisa, it's done. There are plenty of other men who would be glad to marry you. There's no shortage of them in this life. We'll just say that you and Ki weren't a good match."
"She will not have him, not with who she is... If you don't help me, then I'll do it myself. I will not give him up so easily."
She left her father's office and called someone she could depend on no matter what, although their friendship was sexual and as needed he was always willing to be there for her. She needed a fix.
"See you in 20," she told Leim. She made a stop to pick up some alcohol and food. The thought crossed her mind to call Ki; she wanted him to know she hadn't gone far, especially since he hadn't heard from her. She dialed his number and waited as it rang...
Engrossed in conversation, Ki's demeanor shifted abruptly upon glancing at the caller ID. Noticing the change, Lisa suggested, "Hey, let's stop for lunch?" Sensing he needed a respite from driving, Ki agreed, and they veered off at the next exit towards Caramel's.
A charming antique shop captured Lisa's attention; she had always sought the beautifully unique.
"Lisa called again; this time, she left a message." He set his phone to vibrate and turned the ringer off.
"Go get a table, take your time, and look around," Ki said, handing Lisa his credit card.
He chose to listen to Myung's message: "For two: Thank you."
"Ki, how are you? Why haven't you been calling me? You are all I want; don't do this to us. She can't be what you want. Why are you ruining your life for her?" Myung's voice revealed...
He was dumbfounded to learn that she had discovered his secret with Lisa. He called her back...
The phone rang, but she had left it in the car and went to pick up her alcohol and food. He bit his lip in frustration and sat down, watching Lisa walk towards him
"Ahhhhh, I see you've found something, show me!" Ki asked. Lisa smiled and handed him the bag with a girlish flourish.
"Are you flirting with me? I like it," he said as he pulled out her seat from the table. "Let's order; we need to get to the lake house before dark," Ki told her.
They spent lunch engrossed in conversation... Lisa's vibrant personality and sense of humor were undeniable. Ki found himself genuinely falling for her.
"Can I ask you a question?" Ki said, drawing his gaze into her space.
"Okay..." Lisa responded tentatively.
"Do you have a special someone?" Ki inquired, taking a deep breath surreptitiously. He had to know. know.
