Ki returned to Beom Group and stopped at his father's office. It was time for him to assert his independence and chart his course. Confident in his decision to leave Beom Group, he knew it was the only way his father would come to understand his beliefs and his desire to find love, not just fulfill a marriage contract. After all, it was his life.

His father was immersed in paperwork, aware of his entrance but not looking up. "Are you busy?" Ki inquired.

His father motioned for him to take a seat. Ki complied and waited. Eventually, his father shut the file and met his gaze with a displeased expression.

"I assume you've spoken with Myung. Have you straightened out this mess?" Chairman Beom asked.

Ki's face showed irritation. He was not one to be lost for words. "As much as she understood me, I know she'll see it as fear and nervousness and wait a few days, thinking I'll change my mind. But I won't. I've always followed your requests, and even when I disagreed, I respected you throughout."

If you cannot accept my decision, then I will leave and start a new life elsewhere. It's not what I desire, especially since you are my father. Still, I am simply different and wish to live my life free from the constraints of generational marriage and societal expectations of respectability. I believe many people regret adhering to someone else's path and their expectations for them.

I refuse to leave in such a way. A relationship should be built on the mutual understanding that life is for living and learning. The mistakes we make shape us into respectable individuals its character that matters, not the rules that dictate who or what we should be or do.

It's your choice to understand your son, but if not I apologize for being a disappointment, I am.

Question: Do you love my mother? Did you ever love her, even when you were told you would marry her? Are you in love with her now, or have the formalities of contracts and societal expectations continued to obscure your judgment of who she truly is in this marriage? She endured so much and I am sure love for her...for you is intact.."

"Ki, I am not an unreasonable man, but this clearly shows disruptive disrespect. I will not change my mind, and no matter where you go or end up, the name Beom is not yours if you leave."

"I will leave and inform my mother personally... regarding my position here, I will resign," Ki resolved. He was staking everything on a woman he barely knew. The gravity of such a decision was overwhelming.

When Ki returned to Korea, he had already purchased a home. It was only months after his return that he realized what he wanted to do. He began researching corporations he was interested in acquiring and branding. It was a significant undertaking, but he needed to decide on his terms.

He had only one opportunity and one chance to convince Lisa of his feelings, and he was certain of it.
