Tanjiro was sitting in a room of Urokodaki's house, writing words in a notebook with a brush. This notebook served as a diary for him. This is where he wrote down everything that happened, everything the old man taught him and [Y/N], and his personal thoughts and feelings.

Beside him, Nezuko was lying on the futon, still sleeping. This has been the case for some time. She hadn't gotten up since they got to Urokodaki's house. She showed no signs of waking up. She was alive, that was no question, but she was motionless. This caused both him and [Y/N] serious concerns. However, it was still better than having trouble with her demonhood at the center of their thoughts.

Urokodaki was an educator. His job was to train people who wanted to become demon slayers. Apart from him, there were many other educators who cared for and trained the swordsmen in different places and with different methods. To become an official demon slayer, one had to survive the Final Selection in the Fuyikasaneyama Mountains. Only Urokodaki could decide whether they could go to the exam.

[Y/N] and Tanjiro had gone up and down the mountain every day without exception. The more times they went down, the better they became at avoiding the traps. However, this quickly turned into more difficulties. The next time, much more dangerous and difficult traps awaited them. Tanjiro's nose became much stronger, while [Y/N]'s aura sensing ability improved a lot.

In addition to going up and down the mountain all the time, they also had to do sword strikes. Both were given a rudimentary sword, which they had to swing many times. This served to strengthen their hands and tearfully strike down a demon's head. A thousand sword strikes a day was almost not enough. They had just finished it, but Urokodaki immediately called them to do another five hundred.

As the days passed, they became much more tired. True, the constant training kept them awake, but by the end of the day they were almost passed out. Tanjiro had already fallen asleep while writing, so [Y/N] carefully took the brush from him, then laid him on the futon and covered him. She took care of him and Nezuko as well.

Another day, Urokodaki finally initiated them into the world of swords.

The swords broke easily. He clarified this with them at the very beginning. Their vertical strike was strong, but their horizontal strike was very weak. In order to use it properly, the sword had to strike along the blade. The position of the sword and the direction where the force of the blow was concentrated had to be one and the same. Urokodaki also warned them that if they broke their swords, he would break their bones. It wasn't the most pleasant statement, but it was enough of a warning.
