After another two days, things were looking better and better in terms of recovery. The bed-bound and short walks had already changed to shorter periods of time in the room and longer trips. Of course, overexertion was still neither recommended nor permitted. Shinobu and Aoi seemed to be always on the alert and watching her and her condition with careful eyes.
Now, however, [Y/N] found herself in her room. For once, she wasn't lying in bed waiting for a check-up or treatment, but sitting at her desk, a feather in her hand, ready to write a letter.
The letter was addressed to two people she hadn't seen in a long time. To two people who, even as demons, had been kind and accepting of her. Well, mostly one of them. Chachamaru sat at the table, watching her with an attentive and curious look as she turned the writing instrument in her hand slightly, thinking about how to phrase her words. Neither she nor Tanjiro had much chance to draw blood in the past. The cat had nevertheless turned to Tanjiro several times, after all, informing the animal of past events.
[Y/N]'s gaze lingered on the cat. To be honest, she wasn't sure it was a good idea to let it into the room, after all, Shinobu had mentioned that she hated furry animals and didn't like seeing them within the walls or gardens of the estate. However, Chachamaru was an exceptional cat. Yushiro's art made it a truly unusual animal, as it could become invisible with the help of its meow. Perhaps that was why it didn't shed much fur.
She reached out and stroked it behind the ear. The cat snuggled closer to her touch lovingly and purred happily. A smile easily took over as she watched the animal's adorable reactions. However, her gaze suddenly caught on something. There was a piece of paper attached to the back of the cat's neck, or rather to the back of its belt. It wasn't very big, but it was big enough to write a short text on.
Curious, she reached for it and took it off. She slowly unfolded it and began to read the words written on it.
'Dear [Y/N],
It's been a while since we last met or talked. I admit, it's a little disappointing that we don't get to see you and Tanjiro-kun often. I've sent Chachamaru to you many times, but most of the time it only got to Tanjiro.
That's why I had to hear about the terrible events that happened on the Mugen train. When I heard about it, I was terribly worried, but the thought that you were awake and recovering calmed me down.
I wanted to send Chachamaru to you as soon as possible, so I hope that this letter will be delivered safely and reach you. I would be very happy to finally hear from you.
Also, keep it between us, but Yushiro seemed really worried when he heard the news. He probably wouldn't admit it, so let's not make too much of a fuss about it.
