That night, after the meeting with the Hashiras, [Y/N] couldn't bring herself to fall asleep easily. Every word, every image of every moment was still burned into her mind. They were reminders so strong and painful that they couldn't be ignored.
Still, she tried to ignore it. After all, she couldn't really do anything about it. This was just a certain point in her life, and the lives of her three other friends. A certain, but final point. There were more important things at the moment than dwelling on it. For example, there was the training that was about to begin.
How was she going to do the training properly? She had no experience other than training herself. And training herself was much different than training a lot of other people. Each of them had to learn something that would help them improve and become better. So that they could fight. But she herself had only been a demon slayer a few days ago, and now a Hashira. Was there really that much difference between her and the other demon slayers?
So many thoughts, so many questions, and then more thoughts and more questions. The more thoughts she had, the more questions she found herself faced with. But instead of answers, more questions came, and with them more thoughts.
She didn't really know what to do. But she still had a few days left. Maybe she would figure something out by then.
She heard a soft rustling coming from the other bed. Tanjiro was probably moving. He must have been sleeping, unlike her.
Since he and Genya had woken up, they had been able to sleep in the same room again, so neither of them hesitated to do so. However, as happy as [Y/N] was about it, her thoughts unfortunately weren't on these small, but more important, joys.
For some reason, Genya wasn't in the room. Neither of them knew why. Maybe it was the force of habit.
"[Y/N]?" Tanjiro's soft voice suddenly sounded.
The girl stirred for a moment. She hadn't expected the boy to be awake. She thought he was already asleep. He had seemed so peaceful just a few minutes ago when she looked at him. But there he was, awake, and she could feel the worry emanating from his voice. He probably knew how many thoughts must have been in her mind that hadn't let her rest.
Tanjiro slowly sat up in bed and carefully observed her figure. He had indeed been asleep for a few minutes. But then in his sleep he felt a slight smell of worry and tension in the air. What bothered him more was that it was coming from [Y/N]. He was ready to get up at any time to calm her nerves and give her the comfort that she never failed to give him. He wanted to be a support for her, a shoulder on which she could rest, just as he could rest on her shoulder. He wanted nothing more than to let her know that he was always there for her.
