After a pleasant and relaxing day yesterday with the three Hashiras, [Y/N] found herself in bed again the next morning. It was still really early then. As of yet, no Kakushis or any of the butterfly girls had come into the room for their usual routine morning check. However, she assumed that she would definitely see them in an hour. However, she was not alone in the room.
Nezuko was happily sitting next to her in bed, the early rays of the sun illuminating the room, but especially the demon girl herself. It was such an amazing sight. Even after all those days, [Y/N] couldn't believe that Nezuko was finally able to shine under the sunlight again after so long. It was a sight she didn't even know how much she missed.
Aside from the company of the three Hashiras and the butterfly girls, Nezuko was the only one she could spend time with. But she didn't mind it at all. She was grateful that she could finally be with her and finally be with each other like they had been all those years ago. Mitsuri and Muichiro probably hadn't woken up yet. Zenitsu wasn't around either, as he had a mission, although according to the news, he should be arriving in a few days. The same goes for Inosuke, who also had a mission later that day. Tanjiro and Genya were still asleep.
The room was filled with the sound of chatter, although most of the sounds came from [Y/N]. And there was a reason for that. Although Nezuko no longer needed the bamboo, speaking was still difficult for her. She had been deprived of the ability to speak her mind for two whole years, so it was understandable if it felt new to her, and she had to get used to finally being able to say her thoughts out loud. The words usually came out with difficulty, but they were always understandable. When she still couldn't formulate them well, there were times when she tried to help herself with humming. Maybe this new but old habit would stick with her for a while.
"Nezuko, it's so wonderful that we can finally be together like this. I've missed seeing you in the sunlight. And I've definitely missed doing things together. It's been so hard for us to find time together lately, but I hope that this time there won't be a shortage of that." [Y/N] said, her fingers playing with the ends of Nezuko's hair. Sometimes she would make little braids, then take them apart and braid them back together.
At first, Nezuko just hummed, trying to formulate what she wanted to say as best she could. "I... missed being with you too... a lot." she managed to say and she was proud of herself for being able to say it without a hitch most of the time.
[Y/N] smiled at the sound of her voice. Every time she spoke, it was like hearing it for the first time over and over again. She always smiled so happily at the familiar and melodious voice. Suddenly, it seemed completely unimaginable how she could have endured having to rely on her humming for two years.
