And I'll still see it until I die
You're the loss of my life

They say the five stages of grief are what everyone experiences, but Amerie it was different, she didn't seem to cry or react she just simply accepted the fact Riley was dead. Well on the surface it looked like that, but deep down Amerie was breaking slowly, how much could she break till she snapped and broke down completely.

"I'm worried about her, she just seems emotionless." Taylor sighed talking to her mom who sat in the living room, she had came to visit.

Amerie padded her way into the living room.

"Hey kid" Travis said ruffling Amerie's hair

Amerie just smiled, most of the past few days she had been silent, distant.

"Amerie grandma is here, are you going to come say hi?" Taylor asked.

Amerie nodded following her mom to see her grandma.

"Ams! How are you sweetie" Andrea greeted

Amerie smiled, but shrugged her shoulders.

"She's having a quiet day today, been like that for the past few days, but we love her even when she's quiet or not shutting up at all" Taylor chuckled

"Well, Amerie I have a little surprise for you" Andrea said

Amerie instantly looked up, confusion in her eyes.

"A shark aquarium recently opened up, they have so many different sharks but also other marine animals, but mainly sharks. I thought I might take you tomorrow, I've managed to get a private day with the help of tree so, Tay and Travis you are welcome to join, we could make it a family day" Andrea said

"That sounds amazing, Ams why don't you give grandma a hug to say thank you" Taylor said

Amerie smiled hugging her grandma.

"You are so welcome" Andrea spoke calmly.

"Tay" Travis spoke

"Yeah?" Taylor questioned

"Word in the hallway" Travis asked, in which Taylor nodded and followed her fiancee out to the hallway

"What's up Trav?" Taylor asked

"Are you sure it's a good idea to be going out, well especially Amerie. She's been through something hard, something nobody should have to go through at such a young age" Travis said, with a worried tone

"Trav, Amerie will be okay. She needs some normalcy, all she does is mopes and hides away in her bedroom, she needs this to bring back some happiness" Taylor smiled

"Yeah, you're right. I just worry about her" Travis sighed

"And I'm glad you do worry about her, it's what makes you a great father, even if she isn't yours biologically, you have still been more of a father then her own was" Taylor said pulling Travis into a hug.

"Our wedding is soon, have you already got a dress, what does it look like?" Travis asked

"It's a surprise" Taylor winked

"You are your mysterious ways" Travis chuckled

"What can I say I'm rather enigmatic" Taylor smiled

"Does it look like I have a dictionary on me Tay?" Travis chuckled

"It means mysterious, big guy" Taylor giggled

"Right that makes sense" Travis nodded

"Wait you hear that" Taylor said

Travis nodded, "Is that Amerie crying, should we check on her?" Travis asked

"She's talking to my mom, let me try and listen" Taylor sighed, Travis nodded

"I don't feel anything, should I feel sad? I just feel numb, and I feel like I can't talk to mom about it, I know she'd understand, but she won't fully understand, she will just suggest something like writing a song, or talking it out. I'm just not in the mood to pour my emotions out or anything, because I have no emotions, there's nothing there. I just feel empty inside, hallow. I don't think that's normal, I don't want to feel this way. Maybe it's guilt that is slowly eating me away, gnawing on my flesh and bones, and I can't control it. I know it wasn't my fault, but I can't help feeling like I caused all this shit to happen, especially when Ryan said that to me." Amerie sobbed

Andrea just hugged the teenage girl, and said soothing shushes hoping for her granddaughter to calm down. She hated seeing her precious grandchild upset, the one her daughter blessed her with.

Taylor stood in the doorway listening to it all, her heart shattered and she ran to the place she was most familiar with, her music room.

Travis asked no questions, he didn't chase after her, he knew where she was going and what she was doing, something she needed to do to feel at peace.

And the words that formed on the piano, were the ones that created a beautiful but gut wrenching song filled with sadness for her child.

"Counterfeit guilt, led her into the trick of the pied piper. That endless torture was hard to swallow, couldn't help her find the words to tell me she was sinking."
