You look like Taylor Swift
In this light
We're loving it.
You've got edge she never did

Jack had flown to the UK, to help with recording Amerie's song.
"Okay Amerie I'm sure you know how all this works from watching your mom record her songs, but if there is anything you're unsure about just ask" Jack said setting up the equipment.
Amerie nodded, she was anxious. Sure she wanted to do this, but it still felt scary. What if she messed up and made a fool of herself.
"Your original version was on guitar, so is that what you want of course we can change up the instrumental or the lyrics, add to it, anything you want" Jack said.
"Erm I'm not sure" Amerie replied.
"Well we will stick to the guitar then add piano faintly in the background and work with some beats in the chorus" Jack said.
"Alright" Amerie said while biting her nails.
"The headphones are just around the microphone" Jack said pointing to the set of headphones.
Amerie put them on then gave a thumbs up to her Mom who just chuckled.
"Amerie if you start whenever you're ready" Jack said.
Amerie took a shaky breath and then relaxed herself.
"I laid in bed, watching the sunset, scrolling through the endless Wattpad stories.
Must of crossed my mind, another sleepless night.
Spent hours and hours staring at the ceiling, feeling like nothing is healing." Amerie sang.
"Instead of going higher on healing, try going lower so it's more smooth. Like, healing, and hold the g at the end." Taylor suggested.
"I laid in bed, watching the sunset, scrolling through the endless Wattpad stories.
Must of crossed my mind, another sleepless night.
Spent hours and hours staring at the ceiling, feeling like nothing is healing." Amerie sang perfect
"Then my Mom shouts my name to get up for the day, the shadow of school is lurking.
Feels like I'm pulling off weights, feels like my body is draining, the life it's burning.
I've lost my spark, don't know where you are.
My eyes don't light up when I'm watching what I call home.
Another episode of the firefighter show, I spent hours of my night binging through the episodes, trying to find some light in the shits of my life.
Shadows lurking, people talking, I'm just walking tryna' get a sense of life.
Feels like I'm running on a battery, you read about it in the books of psychology, but when it's you, you don't notice the shadows lurking.
The shadows lurking, people talking, I'm just walking tryna' get a sense of life.
The blurred faces as I try to come to my senses, the world that surrounds me suddenly is caving in.
The shadows lurking, I'm trapped in an endless mind trick that's running on repeat.
I walk through the corridors of my school, last night was another sleepless one, I'm dragging out my feet, drinking pints of coffee, scrounging for amounts of energy.
Shadows lurk, I keep trying to work, but I can't help but feel the pressure to put on a face and pretend every day.
Shadows lurk when the mask slips, you hear the voices of the snarky comments.
Then the world is suddenly all against ya'." Amerie belted through the song.
"That was amazing, honestly Amerie you have the most angelic voice I've ever heard." Jack admitted.
"Thank you" Amerie replied shyly.

"I've edited the song, if you would like to hear it" Jack said.
"OMG! I want to hear it!" Taylor said excitedly.
"Alright, Amerie?" Jack asked.
"Yeah" Amerie said allowing him to play the recording.
They listened carefully, Amerie's voice was truly angelic. The song made you feel a range of emotions, it was catchy, but also emotional.
"That's beautiful, Amerie you have a perfect voice" Taylor said proudly, a true proud mama moment.
"I don't think it's perfect.." Amerie mumbled.
"Amerie... stop doubting yourself, you have a true talent, a great range. Your voice is incredibly angelic, you sound just like your Great Grandma Marjorie." Taylor said almost crying of proudness but also the memory of her Grandma.
"Thank you" Amerie said with a smile.
"This song is absolutely amazing, you have real talent" Jack said.
"Thank you" Amerie replied feeling a little more confident.
"Is this something that you want as a career? You've always been so interested in music, I remember the little performances you would put on in the living room whenever your Mom had guests round" Jack said chuckling at the sweet memory.
"Oh she's definitely been a superstar since she was born, came out crying in the most highest pitch, such a set of lungs you had, just knew it you would have a great range" Taylor said.
"Mhm, she definitely does. Remember when Selena was talking about strippers, Amerie then blurts out that she wants to be a stripper and she starts dancing and singing" Jack laughs.
"Oh god don't remind me of that, the most traumatising thing I ever heard come out of a 6 year olds mouth" Taylor chuckled.
"You two are embarrassing, and I don't want to be a stripper at all" Amerie said.
"I'm glad. And we are not embarrassing" Taylor said placing a kiss on Amerie's cheek.
"What do you want to do as a career, your 16 soon. Thinking about careers is important at your age?" Jack said.
"Erm I'm not really sure, I guess I maybe want to help people like me. Teens who struggle with mental health, and struggle to accept disabilities or neurodivergence." Amerie says.
"I think you would be good at that" Jack said.
"You can be anything you want to be" Taylor said pulling Amerie into a side hug.
"Have any plans for your 16th?" Jack asked.
"I'm not sure.. I haven't really thought about it. It's not like I have many friends anyways"
"We will think about party planning tonight don't stress" Taylor said soothingly.
