One night, there are two people who are examining a giant rock with some kind of equipment before the equipment explodes and reveals some sort of crystal. The man picks up the crystal he found and holds it up as green energy pulses throughout the cave. Whatever the crystal is and what the reason behind it, the man plans to use it to make his wish come true.

Time has passed, on one dark night, Mew and her friends are traveling late in the night for a special event.

"So, where's the Millennium Comet anyway?" May asks.

"It won't appear for another 23 hours and 42 minutes," Max answers.

"Know-it-alls," May replies, annoyed.

Resetting on Mew's back, Molly yawns and asks, "Are we there yet?"

"Yeah? Are we getting close to where the festival's at?" Tomo asks.

"We're almost there, Molly," Mew says.

"Mew's right. It should be in that valley up ahead," Brock says, looking at the guide book.

"Well, then, I want to get the first look!" Tomo says and runs ahead, "Last one there's a Slowpoke!"

Meloetta and Skwovet follow.

"Not unless we get there first," Jen says and runs after him with Amaura.

"Guess that means, Max, you're a Slowbro!" Jen says, and runs after them.

Mew laughs and runs after them, carrying Molly, "Good one, May!"

"Very funny, sis!" Max says.

"Hey! I don't want to be the Slowpoke!" Brock calls out as he follows behind.

Everyone follows behind before they arrive at the valley, but find nothing.

"Not much of a party," Max says.

May turns to Brock, "Are you sure this is it?"

"This is the spot," Brock says.

"Where is everybody?" Tomo asks.

"Maybe we're early," Jen says.

"That's possible," Mew says.

Tomo turns to Mew, "Hey can we eat? I'm hungry."

"Me, too," Max says.

"Me too," Jen says.

Not long, Mew and the others are having dinner.

Truth be told, Mew and the others are taking a detour from their journey to witness what few get to see, the Millennium Comet, which appears for only seven nights once every thousand years. They had hoped to take part in the Millennium Festival, but their true role in the legend of the comet will be far greater than they could have ever dreamed.

Time has passed, and the group are sleeping for the night until the festival comes.

But then, vehicles come rolling down in the valley, and Pikachu and Eevee quickly hear them coming before Mew does, too. As the vehicles get closer and closer to the valley, the rest of the gang hears them as well and wake up from their sleep. They rush to the overlook and see that the vehicles are trucks carrying in the rides and attractions for the festival.

Soon, the trucks come to a stop and the people climb out to get the festival set up. They turn on the lights, the rides, and other attractions. Mew and the others come down into the valley and watch the festival being set up. The balloons inflate, rides being put together by the workers. Mew and the others soon see more trucks arriving.

Coming out of one of them is a man with purple hair arrives, revealing himself to be a magician as he makes a cane appear from a handkerchief and then makes his case open to allow giant pink orbs to rise and move about at his command.
