The evening soon begins but Severus hasn't come back yet. So I make dinner for Amia and leave the rest on the stove for Severus when he comes back.

"Where's daddy?" Amia asks after taking her first bite of the steamed carrots. She likes it that way since she still has baby teeth.

"I don't know. But he'll be back soon." I respond while staring at the door, waiting for it to open.

"Okay." She happily eats her food while I keep an eye on her every time she chews and swallows her veggies and shredded barbecue chicken. To this day I'm worried that she'll choke on a piece of food. She hasn't choked before because I always cut her food into small pieces but it looks like she can handle normal bite sizes now. She's growing up way too fast without my permission.

After waiting for another few minutes, we both hear the door open and watch Severus enter before closing it behind him.

"Daddy!" Amia gets off her chair and runs to him to hug his legs. He looks down at her and just gently pats her on the back before continuing to walk towards the bedroom. Amia was about to follow him but I quickly get up and grab her arm.

"You need to finish your food Amia, okay?" I kiss her forehead and pick her up so I can set her down on the chair.

"Is daddy mad?" She asks while looking back to find Severus.

"He's just tired, that's all. Now go on and finish eating. I'll be back." I give her the fork and quietly approach the bedroom to see Severus grab some clothes so he can shower.

"Severus? I made dinner." I say quietly.

He doesn't say anything except close the drawer and walk into the bathroom.

"Can we talk?"

Severus puts his clothes down neatly on the rack this time which he almost never does.
"It's best if we don't speak for tonight." He says tiredly.

"Oh. Okay. Um, I-I'm also going to drop off Amia at school tomorrow. If that's okay with you." I mention.

He just nods his head and grabs the doorknob to close the door but I stop him.
"Severus." I walk in the bathroom with him and gently place my hands on his shoulders.
"Are we... okay?" I ask to assure our relationship.

When he grabs my hand, I thought he was going to kiss my knuckles but instead he guides me out of the bathroom and closed the door. I don't say anything to make him open the door because I don't want to make him upset. So after hearing the water running, I just quietly exit the bedroom and sit with Amia for the remainder of dinner.

I even wait for him to finish showering, hoping he would join us for dinner but instead I hear him turn the light off and lay in bed.

Then when Amia was ready for bed, I change her into her pajamas and set her down on the bed so she can sleep some more. I then crawl into bed so I can be in the middle of them. I was about to hug Severus but he turns around until his back is facing me and falls asleep again. So I make sure Amia falls deeply asleep before hugging Severus from the back. He seemed to relax a little bit but something is obviously wrong. I just hope we can talk tomorrow.

In the early morning, I wake up early with my arm just laying flat on Severus's side of the bed. I immediately sit up straight and look at Amia but she's still sleeping. I then look around for Severus but I don't see him. Even his wand isn't on the nightstand.
He must've left somewhere early.
