When the day is over, I help Amia get dressed for her bedtime since she was fully awake and energized after her nap today. That ice cream made her sleepy until all that sugar rushed through her whole body. The calm before the chaos with her is not something I want to deal with.
Then again, I do love her crazy outbursts.

"Does your stomach still hurt?" I ask while placing my hand on her stomach.

"No." She says while covering herself with the blanket.

"Amia, I told you to not eat too much ice cream. Too much sugar is bad for you."

"I'm sorry mommy." She says with a frown.

"I'll accept it just this once but you are still not allowed any ice cream for two weeks. That includes candy."

"But I like candy." She says quietly.

"Then next time you will listen and not eat too much ice cream. If that happens again, just know it won't be me who will talk to you about it. Now get some sleep." I kiss her forehead and help her fall asleep by sliding my fingers through her hair.

When she's fast asleep, I quietly exit the room with the bedroom door slightly closed shut.
"Okay, she's asleep." I say quietly to not wake up Amia.

When I turn around, I see Severus sitting on the couch with his elbow on the arm cushion and his hand slightly covering his mouth. Almost as if he's thinking about something.

"Everything okay?" I ask while sitting down next to him.

"Mm-hm." He responds.

I place my hand on his other arm and rest my head on his shoulder.
"If something is bothering you then you can tell me."

Severus stays quiet for a moment until he removes his hand from his mouth.
"Who else knows about this substance?" He asks.

"Um, well I talked to Maria about the substance. She told me what I told you." I respond.

"How could she have known about it? Where did she retrieve it from?"

I sit up straight and slightly turn my body to face him with my leg folded on the couch.
"Actually, I got it for her." I confess.

"You what?" He asks while looking at me straight in the eyes.

"Look, I was desperate for some answers after I heard that awful woman convince an innocent man to join her. I couldn't just stand to the side and let her take another victim because all I could imagine was you. I imagined her taking you all over again and it tore me apart. So I sort of, made a plan to steal some from her."

"You confronted that woman inside the building?" He asks with a bit of anger.

"S-Sort of. I made someone else distract Marcella so I can steal it from her purse." I say before swallowing the lump in my throat.

"When did you have time to do this stupid and dangerous thing?" He asks.

"A-After you left for your meetings." I say quietly with my head low.
Severus looks at me with a disappointed look but I'm just wondering how disappointed he'll be when I tell him what else I did.

"You lied to me. You told me you stayed here all day."

"I know I did and I'm really sorry but I needed to know the truth. I needed to know what that woman did to you. So I got Hannah to help me."

"Of course you would ask her. You two were inseparable." He pinches the bridge of his nose while letting out a disappointed sigh.

I stay quiet and wait for what else he says or asks because I don't want to blurt out anything that will make him more upset.
