Chapter 8

Amelia goes to school and meets up with the rest of the class. "Students you all know that you must have these paintings done in the next two days. I am freeing up class time to give you all more time to finish. Next week I want to have all of you help set up the main entrance to show off your artwork for the judging."

At lunch Amelia goes with four of her classmates to the lunch wagon in front of the school. Lacy, you want to get a lunch special and split it with me?"

"Not today I want to get a chilly dog. I have been dreaming of one of these babies for a week."

"I will split it with you." Joe says all smiles.

"Thanks Joe. I will pay for it, my treat."

"We can split it and save us both money."

Amelia waves him off. "It isn't the money; I hate to waste food. They make my favorite sub, but it only comes in the special anymore. I can't eat that much at one sitting." Helen is out getting lunch and sees the two of them and takes a picture of them eating together and is very careful to leave out the rest of the group. This gives Helen an idea.

At eleven that night Amelia gets a call. "Baby come and get me I have had too much to drink."

"I am on my way." He is drinking more and more the last few months. I don't know what is bothering him.

"Hey baby." Mitchell can't get in the car on his own. "You know you are so pretty. I like how you look. My friends think you are pretty too."

"I am glad you like the way I look. Let's get you home." On the ride to the house, he falls asleep. "How am I going to get you in the house?" Amelia knows she can't pick him up. He is six foot three and over two hundred pounds and she is five foot four and one hundred and twenty pounds. "I wish you would wake up. I will have to call your dad for help. He is not going to like this."

Max is woken up by the phone. "Amelia its almost midnight is everything alright?"

"We're good, I need your help. Mitchell is out cold, and I can't get him in the house."

"What is up with him lately? This is the third time in the last couple of weeks he has gotten drunk."

"I don't know but things are getting really bad around here and I don't know what to do about it."

"What do you mean bad?"

"Mitchell is short tempered and is yelling at me a lot. He pulled me into the house when the delivery guy got here and told him to keep his eyes to himself. Then yelled at me and he looked so mad I thought he was going to hit me. My arm is still bruised from how tightly he grabbed me. I don't know what to think. He is not like he was when we got married. Every once in a while, I see the Mitch I love, then he changes to a scary monster. I hate the way he is acting."

"I'll talk to him and see if I can find out what is going on."

"The next morning Amelia has to be at school early, so she makes his coffee and breakfast leaving it in the microwave. Then she leaves him a note. 'I have an early class; I will see you tonight. The Advil is next to the coffee pot."

When Mitchell got up in the morning, he felt terrible. He had a hangover and was late getting to the office. To say he was in a bad mood was an understatement. "Good morning Mr. Wright. I have coffee for you."

"Bring it in the office and we can go over our itinerary." Sir you have a visitor in your office."

He gives her a strange look. "Why did you let someone in my office?" He doesn't wait for an answer and goes straight in his office to find his father waiting for him. "Dad what brings you in today?"

"I came in to see what my son is up to." He looks to Helen who walked in with Mitchell.

"I will call you when I need you." Helen took the hint and walked out not far though. She stood near the door trying to hear what was going on.

"Mitchell what is up? I had to take you in the house last night because you were passed out drunk. Then my darling daughter showed me the bruises on her arm from you pulling her in the house. So can my son tell me what is going on?"

"It is nothing for you to worry about. If that is all you want, I have work to do."

Max is staring at his son, watching how he is behaving. "I am not leaving this office until you tell me what is going on."

Mitchell is not in the mood to deal with his father. He set the briefcase down then leaves the office and his father standing there. "You're here you run the place for the day I am going to my meeting."

Max is dumbfounded. What has happened to his son? "Mitchell I will leave but this is not over." Max storms out of his office.

"Get my coffee and itinerary."

Helen follows him into the office. "Sir you have a lot of meetings today." She was definitely right; the morning was quite full of meetings and signing contracts.

"Helen, we have been working hard go get us some lunch."

Helen goes out to get some food and remembers the picture she took. "This would be the perfect time to show it to Mitchell. He is already doubting her." She returns to the office. "Here you "go sir. "One ham and cheese supreme sub and a coffee."

"Thanks Helen. After we eat, I am going to finish the last of the commercial property reports then we will go see them ourselves."

"On my way to get lunch I saw your wife. She looked so happy, I took a picture of her and thought you might want it. You keep saying you want one for your desk."

"That was nice of you where did you see her?"

"She was having lunch with a friend." She then sends the picture of them having lunch. "She is very friendly with her classmates she must be very popular." Mitchell eyes turn dark, and his face is menacing.

"Are you trying to tell me something, with a picture like this."

"No sir, I just wanted to show you how happy she was." With his outburst Helen is a little afraid she went too far.

"You can leave now!" Once she leaves, he gets even angrier. "I only married her because of dad, now she is cheating on me. She is no different than Jacalyn. All women cheat, they are good for nothing."

Out at her desk Helen is all smiles seeing his reaction. "He will be free and mine very soon."

"Helen free up some of my meetings over the next few nights. I plan on spending more time with my wife."

"Yes sir." Fuck this is not the way it was to go. I need to make a phone call. "Dad get me some guys to go to the college. I want them to just go over and talk to my boss's wife. Then set up a guy to take pictures of them. I want him to see her with as many guys as I can."

"That should be easy we will send some over tomorrow."
