Chapter 97

Mitchell was left in his office numb, lost in what was going on. Rachel knocks on the door. "Come in."

"Sir you gave me the job of finding registered papers I found two sets in the back of the filing cabinet. Both are from the Municipal Court."

Mitchell takes the papers and glances at them. "These are the ones. You did good thank you." He opens them to see one was a notice of the court date and the other was his copy of his divorce papers. "That bitch, I could have stopped this if I had known."

Roman came back two hours later. "I checked and rechecked his background I can't find anything. The only thing I found was not bad just interesting."

"Stop poking around and get to it."

"He was making money and doing well but ever sense he took on this artist A his income and name has doubled if not tripled."

"What does that have to do with this?"

"I don't know if it has anything to do with it. All I said it is interesting. I'll have some guys checking the black markets and underground to see if I can find anything there."

"You're doing your best Roman, there is something going on and neither of us can find it."

Carl came in and he was a mess. "What is wrong with you?"

"You are not going to believe this Mitch. I can't believe it and I saw it."

"What are you talking about?"

"The doctor wasn't paid off. The report is accurate."

"How the hell is that possible? I have one it says I am the father and Collin has one that says he is the father. Only one of us can be the father."

"Not so. The doctor said that both of you could have fertilized one of her eggs."

"You are not making sense."

"I didn't believe the doctor either, so I called your doctor. He confirmed it. You fertilized her first egg that dropped. She had a second egg that dropped, and he fertilized that one. It is rare but it happens. If she dropped a third egg, he could have fertilized that one."

So, you are telling me that each one of the twins have a different father and are in her belly right now."

"Yeah, isn't that crazy. The doctor said that is why he said they were fraternal they weren't in the same sack."

"Does my life get any easier. So, he thinks they are his because one of them is his."

No not quite You see the second doctor said he thinks they are triplets not twins and two are his and one is yours or two are yours and one is his."

"I need a drink and to get so plastered I won't remember any of this shit." Mitchell got up and went to the bar with his two friends behind him."

Two weeks went by, and Mitchell was in trouble. Mitchell was so consumed with what was going on in his life that he couldn't concentrate on work. He called his dad he needed help and could only call him for it. "Dad, I need help at work. I know I am letting you down, but right now I am lost with what she did to my life. What I did to my life."

"I will be right there." Max was there in no time. He walked in to find Mitchell holding papers in his hand staring at them, as he sat on the couch. "Mitchell what is that you're holding?" He didn't answer him, Max went over and got them. The court papers surprised him. When did these get here? Mitchell!"

Yelling his name brought Mitchell back. "Rachel found them hid in the filing cabinet. The receptionist told us she gave Helen these papers. Dad, I have been blind and let her get in my head."

Max realized he had to get his son out of this slump. "Mitchell, you just got this company in a world of trouble, and you want me to fix it. I will help you, but you are going to get your head out of your ass, right now son. We were celebrating a big deal, a deal that if we don't get on top of it can take us under."

"Your right I have to make sure this company stands strong, or I will never have the power to get her back." The two of them hit the files on the desk and table when the day was about over the piles of paperwork was two thirds finished.

"I appreciate the help. What would you think about coming back to help out until I get another assistant?"

"I can help out for a week or two. I have plans to take Bridget and travel the world and I don't want to change that."

"I am glad you found someone to love. It is nice to hold them and feel the love they give you. You deserve that dad."

"You do to son. You will find it if you look for it in a different place."

"I can't not yet. I need to make sure she is safe and let her know I wasn't lying."

Amelia is six months along and has a beach ball for a belly. "Ames I have good news, the house is almost done. I can't wait to move in."

Collin stood behind her with his arms around her, she looked back at him. "Are you happy with the way it is turning out?"

"I love the way you set it up. My girl is very talented. The glass passage between mum's house and our house is unique. I know she will love it."

"What is wrong you don't look like yourself."

"Ever thing is fine, I need you to get some paintings done. I don't want you to lose your name and popularity."

"Collin I just want to paint for myself for a while. I don't need the pressure of getting 10 paintings done for another gallery."

"I have seen some of the ones you finished of the kids and the pups. If you could do one a month you can have a show by the end of the year. I know you won't let us take the ones of the kids, and there is seven or eight of them. If you could paint something different, we could have a show right now."

"You took the other paintings and had a show two months ago. I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself and me."

"I just want the fake owner to get a good reputation, your art will do that."

"If I feel like it, I will paint something different. For three years I have had show after show. It is too much right now. If it takes me two years, then it takes me that long."

"I know you want a break, and it makes sense. I don't want you to lose what you have worked so hard for. I think you are the best artist out there."

"I have done about three of them that are just for the fun of it. As long as I only paint when I want, and you don't have a show until I tell you that I am ready."

"It is fine with me. I just want you to think how much work went into making you the top artist. Think about it, we have this problem because we have to hide you and the kids from him. I would still be running the galleries, and I wouldn't be having any problems."

Amelia felt guilty this is all her fault. "I will try to paint more but being this big and tired I am not pushing."

"I understand." Collin rubbed her belly and walked out of the room with Amelia wondering what is going on with him.
