Chapter 30

"Mitchell wait for me." Helen says as she runs after him.

"Go home Helen I want to be alone. I don't have time for any of this right now."

Helen, who put on a sad and rejected look said. "I will be there whenever you want to talk." She turned away with a look of hate. How could she come back that bitch, and she had to bring those bastards with her.

Once in the car Mitchell repeats. "She came back." Over and over. His head is spinning with the fact he has three kids, and she is back. He tries to calm down knowing it's not helping him figure out what to do next. She had my kid, no kids. They look like me and her. More like her. I have three children and she didn't tell me. How could she do that to me. Worse, my father knew where she was all this time and didn't tell me. My own father, how could he betray me like that. I wonder if she knows we are still married, I never filed the papers.

Back at the party Michael is worried about Mitchell. "Dad I am going to go find Mitchell before he gets himself in trouble. Take care of Laurey."

"I know I hurt him, but he was cruel to her, and she would of run again if I told him. I thought it was better to be there for her and talk her into coming home. I thought I did the right thing. Right or wrong I can't change it now."

"I got it but if I was him, I would hate you right now. I am going to find him; I'll call you and let you know how he is."

He walks over to Laurie. "You stay here with dad I am going to check on my brother."

"He looked upset. Will he be alright?"

"I hope so. I will see you later." He gives her a kiss. Michael, knowing his brother knew he went to his favorite bar. "Hey bro, want to talk?"

"Did you know too? Did you hide her from me."

"No man I found out tonight just like you. To be honest, I am not sure if I would have told you either, after what you did to her."

"Great you think he was right, and I didn't deserve my kids or my wife."

"I am not saying that. I am saying dad had his reasons. They might not sound like good ones to you, but they were for him."

"I don't want to hear his excuses. Just let me alone."

"Wait you said wife. Aren't the two of you divorced?"

"I never filed the divorce papers they are still in my safe. I only had them done up because I was angry and jealous. I thought she was cheating on me just like Jacalyn did."

"You thought the girl who melted the minute you walked in the room was cheating on you. Now that is funny."

"Man, you don't understand. She is so beautiful and guys flock to her all the time. I couldn't take it anymore, not after what I went through with the bitch."

"So, your answer was to get drunk and make her miserable. How stupid are you. Who is the guy she was having an affair with?"

"She wasn't having an affair. She told me he was as safe as a ladybug. It was her way of telling me he was gay."

"Did you tell her that? Explain how you felt to her."

"No, I just kept it to myself. I let other people's shit get to me. The shitty part is I didn't know Joe was gay until after she left. Before that part of me thought she ran off with him."

"You're not making any sense."

"The guys at work told me how pretty and young she was and that she was a gold digger and after my money. Some told me she would get bord of me and start cheating and lying to me until she had enough of my money. After what Jacalyn did my mind and my heart let my doubts take over."

"You have known Ames her whole life, when was she ever about money."

"Don't you think I know that. I have screwed things up royally. Those damn pictures floated in my head, and it made me see red."

"What pictures?"

"Someone kept putting pictures of her with men on my desk ones or twice a day."

"That sounds like someone wanted to start trouble between the two of you. No matter what happened in the past you need to talk to her, not yell and accuse her of things."

"Did you see the kids; my kids that sounds strange. Aren't they the cutest kids you ever saw?"

"That they are. Those girls look just like their mom and Evan, he looks like you and her dad. He even has your stupid mole on the back of his ear."

"After tonight they will hate me. They stood up to me when they thought I was going after their mother. They are little pistols that's for sure." Mitchell gets a grin even with his eyes full of sadness and regret. "I don't even know what she told them about me."

"Why don't you stop drinking and make some plans on how to get her back."

"I don't think I want her back. Not that I don't love her, this empty feeling in my chest is proof of that. I can't get my jealousy under control; I will start feeling insecure and start accusing her and yelling at her all over again. Seeing her there tonight made me crazy. She was so beautiful and the men in the room looking at her made me nuts. I wanted to tear all their eyes out, put her over my shoulder and take her home where no one would be able to see her or take her away from me again."

"I don't know how to get you over the jealousy, but you better or you are going to lose her. This time you won't get another chance.

"Not this time, I may not have her as my own, but she is not leaving me, and she is not going to be with any other man. She isn't getting out of my sight, she may not want me, but her and my kids are not leaving me again. I'll be damned if I don't know where they are at all times of the day and night. I won't feel lost and have that empty feeling again." Mitchell's temper is flaring up again just like the past. "I know what to do."

"Calm down man you are talking crazy. This is not the way you are going to have the family you want."

"Your right drinking isn't going to fix this. I'm going to take care of a few things. Thanks Michael I will talk to you later."

Mitchell gets up and heads straight for the door. "Wait where are you going and what are you going to do?"

"I am making sure she doesn't run away again and then I am going to tell my dear father just what I think of him. You, don't get any ideas about stopping me, brother or not I will take you out if you do."

"Man, you better calm down before you do something crazy." Michael pays the bill and chases after Mitchell.

"I know what I am doing." Mitchell takes out his phone as he walks out of the bar, leaving Michael worried he is going to make things worse. "Hey Roman, I want you to set up protection for my wife and kids. I want to know where she goes and who she sees. This is top priority; I want a perimeter set up that she can't leave and your men will keep her in it."

"Wait. When did you get a wife and kids?"

"I have had a wife for six years. She took off five years ago pregnant. She just came back today, and I don't want her leaving again."

"Then you want men on her at your apartment and the kids school."

"Not my house she has a place of her own. I don't know what school they are in you will have to follow them and find out."

"I'll have men set up at the house twenty-four seven. Then I will send some to follow her and the kids. Give me the address and I will take care of it."

"You make sure I get detailed reports of her location all day. Also, reports on who is coming and going, especially of any males hanging around."

"It will be done; I'll have it set up first thing in the morning."

Mitchell gets in his car feeling smug and sure of himself. "Now let's see her runaway again. Next it is time to take care of my traitor of a father."
