Chapter 18
When she gets home, she is surprised by a very special guest. "Uncle Max, I didn't know you were coming here."
"I miss my grandkids and my daughter so here I am."
"We miss you too. The kids will be home soon, they are in preschool. They are too smart for the classes, but I want them to learn how to get along with others."
"You are a wonderful mother. My grandkids don't know how lucky they are."
The sound of running feet comes in the room. "Mum we are home."
"I can see Evan. Where are your sisters?"
"They are on the coach. The captain gave then sweets."
Max looks at his grandson then at Amelia. She realizes he didn't understand what he meant. "The girls are on the bus the driver is giving them candy." Amelia laughs at Max.
"They should have just said that."
"They did, you just don't talk Australian."
The girls ran in. "Grandpa we missed you so much." They climbed in his lap. "You three are getting so big. I feel like I am missing out on most of your lives."
"Uncle Max don't go there I am not ready yet. I have just finished my second year of college and I have one more to go before I start thinking about moving. On top of that I will be finishing my last race this weekend. I can't break my contract."
Surprised at what she said Max had to make sure he heard her correctly. "You are willing to think about it?"
"I am. It will be when I feel the time is right."
"I am so happy to hear that. I won't mention it again I promise."
Max stayed for a week. As he left, he had hope his family would be coming home. "Amelia thank you for letting me be part of their lives and yours, after everything that happened."
She gives him a hug. "You're my Uncle Max and nothing will ever change that." That day Max left for home and Amelia decided to take the kids to the ranch. "Kids get ready we are going to see Butch."
"Yay, I get to see fluffy. She will have fun playing with me." Conny jumped up and grabbed her sister's and brother's hand. "We have to hurry."
Amelia had to laugh at how happy they were. "Let's go we have a long ride and I want to stop at the store before we go."
When they got to the ranch it was late. "Hi Butch we are staying for a few days. I am going to make dinner if you want to join us."
"I would like that. How are my ankle biters? Your fluffy is waiting for you Conny."
"I want to see Molly. You can't forget my baby."
Butch laughed "We can't forget your baby Olivia or yours Evan." The three kids ran out to the barn while Amelia took the bags in the house to start dinner. Their time at the ranch was full of running and jumping and doing things they liked, they had so much fun. "Butch when is the wooly coming off?"
He took his hand and rubbed Evan's head. "We sheer the sheep this week. The shearers should be here in two or three days."
"I want to ask mum if we can stay. I like watching them." Evan ran into the house. "Mum, mum, can we stay and watch them shear the sheep?"
"I was planning on it and taking you guys out horseback riding and maybe camping."
"Really, I am going to tell my sisters." He was gone faster than his mother could blink. The three came running in the house, "Can we sleep with the sheep."
