Chapter 81

"Jill I will be back I have to talk to Mr. Wright." The two walked out of the office. I didn't want to say anything in front of Jill, but the money she took out the other day went to that house. I followed the deposit, and it went to another account. I think it belongs to the man who was driving the van."

"Are you sure about this?"

"The first ten thousand went to the house account. Five of it was sent to the second account. The other five was taken out but we don't know where it went. The day of the accident another ten thousand was sent to the house and the same thing five was sent to the same second address."

Does that address have anything to do with Helen?"

"Roman sent men there to watch the house. He is doing a background check on the two men that live there."

"We have to get that man he is the key to having them arrested for attempted murder." Mitchell runs both hands through his hair. "She would have stolen me blind if I married her. She got rid of Ames by making me jealous, just so she could marry me and rob me. She is some kind of con artist."

"She had everyone fooled but your dad. He is a smart man."

"Wait until I tell him what she pulled off right under my nose."

"What about the baby?"

"That is a good question. First, let's find out if it is mine. That test is in two weeks. I will keep everything under wraps until we find out the results. Then I'll make up my mind."

"Until then we will keep an eye on the two men and hopefully, they find the driver of the van."

"I told Rodger to give you a call he would know how to get your money back from her."

It's late, call it a night you both have been working hard. I forgot about Mr. Henderson. I am supposed to be in England tomorrow. Let me go to the office to call him."

"If anything, else comes up let me know." Carl heads back to the accounting office. he stops short. "Mitchell, I forgot we got another puppy to replace the other one. They look a lot alike and are the same age only a day different, I hope she can't tell the difference."

"It is a shame the puppy died. Olivia loved that little thing."

"It isn't dead yet. They want to operate on it, but they are waiting until it is stable. Once they go in they can see how bad things are and we'll find out what happens."

"The kids go home tomorrow have someone bring the puppies to the hospital."

"If the pup makes it, what do you want to do with it?"

"Hell, give her to Ames she can have a corgi ranch. You did get a girl right."

"I can tell the difference between a boy and a girl. Ames will kill you if you give her another one. You better tell someone about the puppy so incase Olivia notices something different they can explain it to her."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Mitchell walks in his office worn out from the bull shit of a day he went through. He picks up his office phone. "Hello Mr. Henderson, I cannot make the meeting tomorrow."

"I hope there is nothing wrong. I believe we agreed on the contract."

"That isn't the problem. My wife and kids were in a car accident and my wife is in the hospital and she is pregnant, I don't want to leave her at this time. If you want, we can video chat tomorrow and sign and fax the papers or we can reschedule the meeting."

"I am so sorry to hear about your family. I didn't know you had a wife and kids. I hope all goes well. We can handle it either way, but right now I don't think your mind would be on your work."

"I don't think so either. Thank you for your understanding. I will give you a call in a few days and set up a meeting."

"One call down now to go see Ames." I walk down the hall and it feels as empty and lonely as me. I am going to make her mad at me again when I tell her what I did, who knows she might think I did the right thing. "Hi Ames."

"I told you; you didn't have to spend the night."

"I couldn't sleep knowing you were here alone without me. I need to talk to you about something. I am not sure I handled it right and I will need your help. Olivia's puppy was hurt pretty bad. They are talking about operating on it and don't know for sure if it is going to make it."

"That is going to break Olivia's heart."

"That's what I thought. I had Carl find another puppy to take its place. I want to bring then to the hospital in the morning before the kids go home. If she can tell the difference, then I was hoping you could explain to her what happened. You are her everything if anyone can make her feel better it will be you."

"She will know right off the bat. Her puppy only has two toes on her back foot. They are not going to let you bring puppies in the hospital."

"I own the damn place who is going to tell me no. I will get them in don't worry just figure out what to say."

"I will talk to her. She is going to be upset. I hope she can love the new puppy."

"I didn't want her to be the only one without a puppy. It would be too hard on her."

"I am starting to see the soft side of Mr. Wright. He hides this side a lot. This is the side I miss, the side that when I missed my mother would hold me until I fell asleep."

"You and I both lost a lot back then. You were so young, and I felt so bad for you and me. All I wanted was to take your pain away. Now I am the one causing your pain."

"It doesn't have to be that way. You could learn to trust again and love just to love. It is under all that fear and doubt you are carrying. Jacalin and Helen have done a number on you. I guess I am partly to blame, leaving you like I did. Even if I had good reasons, it didn't help you."

"It is not your fault. I was out of control and I know it. I regret what has happened between us. I do love you and I want to be the man you want and need. Not just for you but the kids too."

"You can do it I know you can Mitchell. I have faith in you. I have faith in the young man I loved so much."

"I will live up to your faith I promise. I forgot one more thing. I just wanted to tell you if the puppy makes it, it is going to you."

"I am going to kill you. If I get stuck with one more puppy, I swear you are going to pay for it."

The nurse walked in. "I heard you yelling is everything alright?"

"I am sorry I disturbed you. My ex-husband just saddled me with another puppy, and we have three already."

"Let me step out while the nurse takes care of you."

"Coward wait until my arm is healed. Ex husbands are worse than husbands."

"I got one just like him. He wants to make up to the kids and he sends all kinds of things home with them to make me crazy."

"It is nice to know I am not the only one in this boat."

"Is that your ex and your kids two doors down."

"They are my kids but that is my boyfriend."

"He is staying with your kids. You have a good one there."

"He loves those kids. I got two girl corgis and my son complained he needed a boy corgi. So, what did he do, he went out and got him one. I can't win with him either. He bought them horses and built them a stable. I am afraid of what they are going to want next."

"I thought I had it bad, but you have it worse. Do you want a drink or something before I leave?"

"I am fine thanks."
