I loved you in the quiet spaces
Between words and glances,
In the pauses where your eyes
Met mine for just a little too long.
I loved the way you made me laugh,
Like I was the only one who could
Crack open your guarded heart,
If only for a fleeting second.
There were moments, small and soft,
When you held me in your gaze,
And I swore, I could see it—
A spark, a flicker of something more.
Your hand brushed mine,
And I felt the world slow down,
As if you, too, were waiting,
Holding your breath in the quiet.
But then the truth fell like a storm,
Unraveling all the dreams I built.
I found out—so simply, so cruelly—
That you already had someone else.
And the love I thought I saw in your eyes
Was never meant for me at all.***
