indifference

You stood there,
arms crossed,
as I unraveled before you.
Tears slipping down my pale cheeks,
begging for some sign of care,
some flicker in your eyes
that you had ever felt anything.

But all I found was emptiness,
a cold, quiet indifference
that cut deeper than the words you never said.

I wiped away the tears,
my vision clearing,
only to see the truth reflected back—
you never cared.

And the love I thought we shared
was nothing more than a dream
I built alone.

You watched my heart break,
not with cruelty,
but with something worse—
you didn’t love me,
and you never had.
