It breaks my heart to think
about the number of heart wrenching poems, letters, and notes
that one writes for the one they love.
But their loved one is completely oblivious of
the amount of love that surrounds them.
Perhaps they don't deserve all of it.
But the heart's a silly thing,
it goes off to someone,
and when their loved one doesn't take it,
it still doesn't want to come back.

I remember the days when I used to sit at my table,
with my elbows on the table while I rest my head in my hands,
head slightly tilted to the right
while I thought of him,
and the way I wanted him in my poems.
Although I captured him in my writing,
it was not even half of what I always felt for him.
