broken dreams

Not too long ago, I cherished you being in my life,
It's funny how I even saw myself as your wife.
Laughter and love were the things that we shared,
Moments so precious, showing how much we cared.

We danced under stars, in the moon's gentle light,
Your soft words of love, your touch felt so right.
We dreamed of a future, full of hope and cheer,
Every sweet promise felt so sincere.

We walked through gardens, holding hands tight,
Building our dreams under skies so bright.
You were my safe place, my best friend,
I thought this was something that would never end.

But then came the shadows, your words like a knife,
Cutting through dreams, distorting my life.
Manipulation crept in, subtle and sly,
Confusing my heart, making me cry.

You twisted the truth, played games with my mind,
Each smile a façade, each moment unkind.
The love that once blossomed now started to fade,
Lost in the darkness of lies that you made.

You shattered my heart with your cruel, selfish ways,
Turning our nights into sorrowful days.
The trust that I gave you, you broke it apart,
Leaving me broken with an aching heart.

Not too long ago, I cherished you being in my life,
It's funny how I even saw myself as your wife.
But now I walk forward, with strength deep inside,
Leaving behind the love that you denied.

I'll mend these pieces, I'll heal from this pain,
Find joy in the sunshine, let go of the rain.
For I am resilient, I will rise above,
Reclaiming my life, my spirit, my love.

PS: Hey readers! I hope y'all are doing well. I just had a small question to ask, do you prefer poems with happy or sad endings? I personally prefer sad endings, but I tried ending this poem on a good note. Do let me know how you feel about it. I'd love to know!
