memories of you

Memories of you.
The memories of you used to once make me smile.
But now it's been a while
since I last smiled, and the reason was you.

Memories of you.
The sound of your laughter
used to make me feel better.
I don't get to hear them anymore
and this makes my days tougher.

Memories of you.
The way your cheeks turned pink
whenever I passed by.
Maybe it all was a lie
and now my heart only knows how to sink.

Memories of you.
Your favorite perfume was her favorite too.
But did you know it was mine too?
Now the same smell
makes me go through hell.

Memories of you.
The way you are obsessed with your curls
made my heart twirl.
When I made your hair into a ruffle,
you always altered the rate of my heart muscle.

Memories of you.
When you tucked my hair behind my ear,
it made my whole year.
Your fingers quivered when you touched my curls ever so delicately.
In that moment, you loved me so evidently.

Memories of you.
You always handled my anxious nerve
And I thought, "This is what I deserve."
You knew what I needed to listen to when I had an attack
But now you don't give a fuck.

Memories of you.
I loved clicking pictures of you and the sky
but when I look at them,
they make me cry.
You always filled me with new hope
And now I only need to cope.

Memories of you.
You were my dream,
we were always a team.
You were the reason for my eyes to shine,
but now in them, there's only sadness.
Now I just pretend; I'm fine
because there's no one to handle my madness.
You were someone I admire.
You were Fire,
and I was Earth.
Now you make me question my real worth.

Memories of you.
Perhaps she is your girl
so you gifted her earrings made of pearl.
You made me feel like I was yours
but you say that you are always, hers.
