Y/N sat on her bed, her legs curled up underneath her as she stared blankly out the window. The moonlight poured into her room, casting soft shadows along the floor. She let out a long sigh, pressing her phone against her chest, hoping for a notification, something—anything from Yeonjun. It had been days, no, weeks, since they had last spent time together, and the silence was eating away at her.
"Monday, I was dreaming about him... Tuesday, I was waiting by my phone," she muttered softly to herself, pulling her knees closer to her chest. "Two days... not a single text. What happened?"
Y/N's mind had been spiraling with thoughts over the past few days. Had she done something wrong? Was Yeonjun just losing interest? They hadn't fought, and yet, his distance made her feel like they were drifting apart. Each passing day without a call or text made her more restless, more anxious. The longer he stayed quiet, the more she convinced herself that he didn't care anymore.
Her fingers traced the outline of her phone screen, the familiar urge to send him another message rising within her. She had already texted him too many times, each one left on read without a reply. She couldn't bear the thought of reaching out again, only to be met with silence. But despite it all, she missed him. She missed him so much it hurt.
The weekend had come and gone, and Y/N realized she had spent most of it lost in her thoughts, replaying every moment they had shared, overanalyzing every conversation, every laugh, every kiss."What did I do wrong?" she asked herself quietly. "Why does it feel like he's just... gone?"
The sound of her phone buzzing jolted her out of her thoughts. For a moment, her heart stopped. It couldn't be—she reached for her phone with trembling hands and saw his name flash across the screen. Yeonjun.
For a second, she hesitated. Was she ready to face whatever he had to say? After all this time, after being ghosted? But her heart wouldn't let her stay angry, not when she missed him so much. She swiped the screen and held the phone to her ear, her voice coming out softer than she intended."Hello?" she breathed.
"Y/N?" Yeonjun's voice came through, sounding just as familiar and warm as she remembered. "I'm so sorry. I know I've been out of touch. Can we talk?"
She bit her lip, trying to keep her emotions in check. Her heart was racing, but she couldn't help the wave of frustration that bubbled up. "Talk? Yeonjun, you've been gone for weeks. I've been trying to reach you, and you never responded. I... I didn't know what to think."
Yeonjun's sigh on the other end of the line sounded heavy, like he knew he had messed up. "I know. I know. I'm so sorry, Y/N. I've been... I've been tied up with work, and everything's just been piling up. I didn't mean to ghost you. It wasn't like that at all."
Y/N frowned, her heart still aching despite his apology. "But you didn't tell me. You never said you were going to be busy. I thought... I thought maybe you didn't want to talk to me anymore."
"I'm so sorry," Yeonjun repeated, his voice quieter this time. "I should've told you. I should've reached out. I swear I wasn't trying to ignore you. I just... I don't know, I lost track of everything, and I've been feeling so guilty."
The silence stretched between them for a moment before Y/N spoke again, her voice cracking slightly. "I thought about you every day, Yeonjun. Every single day. I didn't know what I did wrong."
"You didn't do anything wrong," he rushed to say. "This was all my fault. I didn't realize how much time had passed, and I'm so sorry. Can I... can I see you? Please?"
Y/N hesitated, glancing out the window again. The moonlight felt colder now, her emotions still tangled and confused. "I don't know, Yeonjun. I don't know if I'm ready."
"Please," he said softly, almost pleading. "I'll make it up to you, I promise. Just let me see you. I miss you."
She closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his voice tug at her heart. She had missed him too, despite everything. "Alright," she whispered. "Come over."
It didn't take long for Yeonjun to arrive. Y/N opened the door slowly, her heart pounding in her chest as she saw him standing there, hands stuffed in his pockets, eyes filled with remorse. He looked like he hadn't slept well in days.
"Hey," he said softly, offering her a small, nervous smile.
"Hey," she replied, stepping aside to let him in.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Yeonjun pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest. The sudden embrace took Y/N by surprise, but she melted into him, her body instinctively leaning into the familiar warmth of his touch. It was like all the distance between them disappeared in that moment.
"I missed you," he murmured into her hair, pressing a soft kiss against her temple. "I missed you so much."
Y/N stayed quiet for a moment, letting herself sink into the feeling of being close to him again. She had been so angry, so frustrated, but now, with his arms wrapped around her, all of that seemed to fade away.
"You could've told me, you know," she said quietly, her cheek pressed against his chest. "I would've understood."
"I know," Yeonjun replied, pulling back just enough to look into her eyes. "I should've told you. I just got so caught up in everything, and I didn't realize how much I was shutting you out. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
Y/N looked up at him, her fingers absentmindedly playing with the hem of his shirt. "I thought you didn't want me anymore," she admitted softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I thought maybe you were... moving on."
Yeonjun's eyes widened in surprise, and he shook his head vehemently. "No. Never. Y/N, you're everything to me. I would never move on from you. I was just... I was stupid. I'm sorry for making you feel like that."
He cupped her face gently, brushing his thumb over her cheek. "I'll do better. I promise. I won't let this happen again."
Y/N searched his eyes for a moment before finally nodding. "Okay," she whispered. "But you have to promise."
"I promise," he said softly, leaning in to press his lips against hers.
The kiss was slow, tender, filled with the unspoken apologies and reassurances that words couldn't convey. Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer as her heart finally felt at ease. They stayed like that for a while, the weight of the past few weeks melting away with every kiss, every touch.
When they finally pulled apart, Yeonjun rested his forehead against hers, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Let's not go out of touch again, okay?"
Y/N smiled back, her heart feeling lighter than it had in days. "Okay," she agreed softly. "No more out of touch."
And with that, they cuddled up together on the couch, Yeonjun holding her close, both of them silently promising each other that they would never let this happen again.
