. . .

In the backdrop of a home where discord was the soundtrack, Yeonjun carved out a sanctuary not in the echoes of solitude, but in the shared silences and laughter with a group that had become his chosen family. Among them was Y/N, whose presence turned the ordinary into something akin to magic. On a day marred by the usual cacophony of his parents' arguments, a simple message from Y/N on his phone felt like a lifeline thrown into the turbulent sea of his thoughts.

"Hey, we're all outside. Come out when you can," the message glowed on the screen, its simplicity belying the profound impact it had on him. Yeonjun couldn't help but smile, a rare and precious curve that lifted the heaviness off his heart, if only momentarily.

He quickly grabbed his leather jacket, the one piece that felt like armor against the world, and darted out the door. The cool evening air was a balm, and there they were, his friends, with Y/N standing slightly apart, her gaze wandering until it landed on him.

"There he is! Our knight in scuffed sneakers," Beomgyu called out, his voice laced with warmth and a hint of mischief.

"Very funny, Beomgyu. You're just jealous you can't pull these off," Yeonjun shot back, the banter feeling like a return to normalcy.

As the group laughed, Y/N moved closer. "Are you okay?" Her voice was soft, a contrast to the loudness of his home.

Yeonjun met her eyes, and for a moment, considered brushing off her concern with a joke. But something in her gaze stopped him. "Yeah, I'm good... now that I'm here," he admitted, allowing a sliver of his true feelings to show.

Y/N smiled, and it was like a promise of better things to come. "Good. We've missed you. We're planning a little adventure tonight. Are you in?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with the thrill of the unknown.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Yeonjun replied, the weight of his world momentarily lifted by the prospect of spending the evening with his friends and Y/N.

As they walked, the city's lights began to blur into a tapestry of colors, each moment spent with the group a brushstroke in the masterpiece of his youth. They shared stories that made them laugh until their sides hurt and confessions that brought them closer than ever.

"So, Yeonjun, when are you going to admit that you've got the biggest crush on Y/N?" Hueningkai teased, nudging him with an elbow.

Yeonjun felt a flush creep up his neck, but he played it cool. "What are you talking about, Kai? We're just friends," he managed to say, stealing a glance at Y/N, who was looking at him with an unreadable expression.

"Right, just friends don't look at each other like that," Taehyun chimed in, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

Before Yeonjun could respond, Y/N laughed, easing the tension. "Guys, stop teasing him. We're all friends here, right?"

The conversation flowed into the night, each moment a testament to the strength of their bonds. It was in these moments, surrounded by laughter and the comfort of friends, that Yeonjun felt a glimmer of hope, a belief in the possibility of happiness despite the chaos of his world.

As the night came to a close, Yeonjun found himself walking Y/N home, a silent agreement between them. "Thank you for tonight, Yeonjun. It means a lot, you being here," Y/N said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Hey, I should be thanking you. You... all of you, make everything seem okay," Yeonjun confessed, his voice laden with an emotion he rarely let show.

Y/N stopped and turned to face him, her eyes searching his. "Yeonjun, no matter what happens at home, know that you're not alone. We're here for you, I'm here for you," she said earnestly, reaching out to squeeze his hand.
