CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
CLEAR YOUR NAME

lilith swung her legs out of the car door, exhaling a deep, tired breath. jj extended his hand, allowing lilith to take it into hers. after jj helped lilith climb out, he grabbed their bags, handing one to lilith and throwing his own over his shoulders. lilith sent a thankful smile towards the blonde, putting her arms through the straps. "hey, chill out." kiara told the boy who took one last chug of the alcohol in his flask before handing it to lilith.

the bell rang from inside the building, almost immediately making lilith groan in annoyance. "if i black out, just don't remind me." jj shrugged his shoulders with a tight-lipped smile. lilith took her own big gulp and then proceeded to close the flask, throwing it into the backseat of the car.

"that's not funny." kiara shook her head dismissively, clearly unimpressed with his comment. jj closed the car door after lilith, approaching pope and kiara. lilith followed closely beside jj, her arms instantly crossing over her stomach to cover somewhat of her scars.

"he wasn't joking." lilith released a small chuckle, shrugging her shoulders. kiara sent lilith a sympathetic look, but the girl was too busy staring at her shoes to notice.

"it's them." a girl whispered from a distance to a group of her friends. lilith could hear everything, she just chose not to acknowledge anyone. they didn't know her story. they didn't know anything. they were just too bored with their own lives. "there they are." another girl whispered. "i wasn't sure they'd show up." a boy furrowed his eyebrows in surprise upon seeing the four pogues. "heard they got arrested." lilith released a deep sigh. bullshit. "that wouldn't surprise me." lilith lifted her gaze upon seeing a boulder infront of the school. her eyes squinted whilst they approached it. "think they have something to do with it?" another voice called out. "they had to."

"i feel like people are staring at us." kiara commented, her eyes scanning the teenagers surrounding them. liliths eyes focused on the boulder when they stopped directly infront of it. surrounding the boulder was flowers. lots of flowers. it was a memorial for john b and raven-mae. lilith lifted her eyes to the crowd. it wasn't hard to tell that she was unimpressed with the memorial. nobody ever cared. it was all a show. it was a joke to them. they make a memorial and they speak about the incident but they don't know anything and they pretend they do.

"oh yeah." jj nodded his head in agreement, his gaze focused on lilith whose eyes remained upon the memorial. lilith and raven first started in the kook academy when they moved to the outer banks which is where they met the cameron's. however upon befriending the pogues, they immediately changed school. it wasn't to trevor's liking, of course. but it was their education. and it wasn't his say.
