'What's your favourite thing in the world?'
'The sky.'
'The sky?'
'Yes.'
'Why the sky?'
'Because it keeps reminding us that no matter who we are or where we come from, whether we're black or white, gay or straight, we are all under the same sky.'
...
I know, I know. Trust me, it hurt me to write that last chapter as much as it hurt you to read it. Believe me, if I had my way the story wouldn't end like that, however-as I've said before-I do not write the story. The story writes itself. I am merely a tool, an instrument that it uses to get out. I honestly do not have a say in any of the things that happened in the book, if I did, believe me A LOT of things would be different.
That being said, while I cannot change the story to suit my needs I can and I will, create fanfiction to satisfy my wants. In aid of that, there is an alternative ending (published at the end of the book) where Samuel lives, and everyone lives happily ever after (except Roger because F*** that dude).
Unfortunately, the alternative ending is not canon, hence, why it is at the end of the book. It is merely a delusion to keep us happy because after sticking with the story as long as we have, we absolutely deserve a happy ending g0ddamn it!
Now, on to the acknowledgements.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
360k words, 1000 pages, 93 chapters, and 3 years.
This story honestly wouldn't have come this far without all of you. There were many times that I wanted to give up but the thought of all of you who loved this story so much and were eagerly awaiting for updates kept me going. Thank you. Thank you all. Words cannot express how much I appreciate you.
Special thanks to TheSemiNormal who made all the amazing fanarts for this book, and to YoyoJae whose comments and feedbacks were like fuel to my artistic soul. Special shoutouts to divixnity , imgayism , Loveless_Loner , Tebbah , dpr_jack , -aussie-bitch_ (and many others who I can't tag because Wattpad's tagging system is sh1t) whose votes, comments, and behind the scenes encouragements kept me going, and to Ayceltino who threatened me with grievous bodily harm whenever updates were delayed.
There is another person who I owe a special thanks to but unfortunately, I am no longer in contact with them. They were my early inspiration and even had a character named after them. If you're reading this, just know I'm grateful for everything and hope that you are doing well.
If I were to list the rest of the people I owe thanks to, we would be here for another three years, so I am just going to end by saying one last thanks to you all!
What's Next?
Now, to the million-dollar question. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what's next on the cards now that this book has ended.
To address the major question I received: Will there be a sequel?
Honestly... maybe.
I am still toying with the idea of an Azrael book and I already have a few drafts outlined. But even if I do decide to bite the bullet and write it, that would be five to six years in the future. It is not a major project for me now.
However, there are a series of oneshots of Jayden's new life with Sky that I have already began drafting; Jayden finally goes to therapy, Sky's adventures in school, etc. etc. I may complete and post them in between my next major projects in my "Bonus" book, so keep a lookout.
The second popular question: What is your next project?
Why, I am glad you asked! I am more of a thriller and fantasy kind of writer, so branching off into romance with this book was quite a deviation for me. I have been dying to go back to my roots but so many of you want more romance and I thought, why not do both? Which gave birth to;

An LGBTQ+, sci-fi romance set a thousand years in the future. I was rereading the Dune novels and thought "This would be ten times better if it was gay" which inspired me to create my next brainchild.
Yes, it is enemies to lovers. No, it's not some rivals to lovers, or mild dislike to lovers slop that we are being force-fed these days. These are people with clashing personalities on opposite sides of a divide who are actively trying to kill each other. (They almost succeed a few times too)
While I was inspired by Frank Herbet -therefore there are some recognizable themes- the story, plot, characters, and a host of other things are fundamentally different and I cannot wait to share them with you.
I plan on completing the first book in its entirety before I begin posting, so we are looking at a release date of Winter 2026. With any luck, I shall be done earlier.
I shall not keep you any longer as I'm sure you are eager to read the alternative ending. If you have any questions just leave me a comment and I'll be sure to answer them.
