My oceans were lakes, so shallow and clear,
Where ripples of dreams danced without fear.
I thought them so vast, as they sparkled and shone,
But they whispered small truths I had never known. The horizon was close, just a hand's reach away,
And I thought I had wandered the world in a day.
The waves were but whispers, the storms just a breeze,
And I drifted in comfort, at peace and at ease. But beyond the soft shores, there were worlds yet unseen,
Deep waters of mystery, where no light had been.
Where the currents ran wild, with no thought of retreat,
And the heartbeat of tides kept a dangerous beat.I mistook my still lakes for the breadth of the sea,
Not knowing the depths of what I could be.
For the oceans call louder when you dare to explore,
And the lakes that once held you can hold you no more.So I'll cast off the anchor, I'll sail without fear,
For the oceans await, and their voice is so clear.
In their wildness, I'll wander, in their depths, I will dive,
And it's there in the vastness, I'll know I'm alive.
