Monster Crawling Inside of Me

There's a monster crawling inside of me,
Silent, hidden, it waits patiently.
Beneath the smiles, beyond the light,
It stirs awake in the dead of night.

It feeds on doubts, on shadows deep,
Haunting the places I thought asleep.
A whisper, a shiver, a nameless fear,
The monster draws itself near.

In the mirror's gaze, it shows its face,
A flicker of anger, a hint of disgrace.
It knows my flaws, my weakest parts,
The cracks, the scars, the broken starts.

I try to hide, to lock it away,
But it claws through words I don't say.
In quiet moments, it slips and grows,
Filling spaces I don't let show.

Yet in this battle of dark and light,
I find myself stronger, ready to fight.
For every monster that claws its way,
Is just another fear I can sway.

So let it crawl, let it try—
I'll face it down, eye to eye.
This monster within, I'll not let be,
For it doesn't own the whole of me.
