Layers built, mask by mask,
Hidden faces, a well-worn task.
Shifting shapes in shifting light,
Parts of me kept out of sight.

I wear a smile, crafted well,
A thousand stories I never tell.
A perfect act, a guarded guise,
Truth kept safe behind my eyes.

Who am I when all is stripped,
When walls come down and seams are ripped?
A mystery, even to me,
A soul at war, longing to be free.

Yet somewhere deep, my true heart waits,
Untouched by fear, unbound by fate.
A quiet truth, a steady fire,
Beyond the masks, my real desire.

So piece by piece, I'll shed my shell,
Embrace the me I've yet to tell.
For in this dance, this grand charade,
Is someone real, not just a facade.
