Chapter 37: See You Again

Cody's POV:
I'm sitting in my locker room thinking about my dad when my phone rings and it's Dustin. He gives me some bad news. Our dad is gone. I start breaking down.
Vanessa's POV:
Word about Dusty's death circles the locker rooms like romance rumors. I burry my head in my face and I start to cry. Dusty was my mentor at NXT he believed in me when I didn't. I look around the arena and everybody is feeling sad. We go to the ring trying to remain positive. I ask to say a few words about Dusty. Dusty was a mentor to all the NXT rookies from the Shield to Alex Riley and Paige to me. He was a dad to Cody and Dustin and to me as well. I looked to Dusty as my second dad. He'll always hold a place in my heart that no matter how crazy things get he'll always be with me and encouraging all of us to chase after our dreams. If Dusty taught us one thing it was to never stop dreaming. As I look around that message of dreaming is the one thing that we'll carry with us. A lump starts to form in the back of my throat and I start to cry. Dusty will always be with us! The Divas and I prepared a video tribute to Dusty. As the tribute began, I started to think back at my first day of training.
*Flashback*
Dusty: You can do it just hit Seth!
Vanessa: Dusty, I can't I don't want to injure Seth!
Dusty: I believe in you!
Seth: Wimp!
Vanessa: I'm not a wimp!

As the tribute ends I see Dustin and Cody embracing each other. How could we not talk about family when this family lost one of its own? I think out loud. I feel John's hand on my shoulder that's when it hits me we'll do a song for Dusty. We think of a song with a rap component for John and a non rap component for me. I find the perfect song.
