Chapter 45

Caitlan's POV:

Zac's been distant with us all, he's still in shock about learning that he's a real merman. I've known Zac my whole life, I know when he needs space.

The doorbell rang. It was Zac. "Hey, Mimi isn't here yet-" I started. "I'm not here to see her. I'm here to see you. I need to talk to someone, I can't talk to anyone else." Zac said anxiously. "Come in." I smiled. "Where's Rita?" Zac asked. "She's sat on the roof." I said, mum then appeared at the stairs. "Hey Zac" she said softly. "Hi Rita, I wanted to have a chat with Cait if that's ok?" Zac told mum, hinting he wanted privacy and mum smiled and said we know where she is.

"You go to the Grotto, I'll be there in a few" I smiled at Zac. I went to mine and mum's room and got boxing gloves and pads and went to the Grotto. Zac was confused. "It might help you release the feelings" I said. "Cait, I don't know who I am! My parents aren't my parents, I've got a sister that I didn't even want. You're the only sister I ever wanted and needed. My whole life is a lie" Zac said teary. I brought Zac into a hug. "I'll always be your sister Zac, even if Mimi is your sister by birth. Due to our pact, I'm her sister just as much as I'm yours. But I'll always have your back, you know that" I told Zac. "Wanna get some of that anger out?" I asked putting the boxing pads on. Zac put the gloves on and we did a bit of boxing. After a good few punches, Zac hit me straight in the nose, causing it to bleed. "Cait! I'm sorry" Zac apologised panicky and realising what he had done. "It's ok." I said in shock, tears streaming down my face, before getting a tissue and applying pressure to my nose. "What do you think you're doing Zac?" I heard. Mum came in angry, I guess she saw the punch. "Rita I'm sorry, I took my anger out on Cait. She was trying to help and I just lost control." Zac said shakily. "Mum it's fine." I tried reassuring her. "Zac, I understand that finding out about being a merman was a shock, but talk to your parents and Mimi!" Mum scolded and Zac ran out.

Mum sat me down and looked at my nose. "I think it's broken" mum said sadly and got the healing potion, and applied it to my nose. "Thanks mum" I smiled sadly. Mum sat next to me, she could tell something else was bothering me. "What is it, baby girl?" She asked. "In the merman chamber, do you think Veridia would have-" I trembled. "No darling. I know for a fact she wouldn't. For two reasons: one, she loves you, and two, she knows I'd never let anyone hurt my baby girl and if she did she knows full well what I'm capable of" mum brought me into a hug. "I'm gonna go for a swim" I said after a couple of minutes.

I swam to a cave under Mako and just laid there for a bit before going home. Mum was telling Mimi that Nerissa probably left her with the Mako Pod and Zac on land so that they were close and find their way back to each other. "Did you mean what you said the other night about me being your sister?" Mimi asked me with teary eyes. "Of course I did. I know I've got Nerissa blood, but you haven't got our blood so let's do a blood pact as well" I said softly and Mimi smiled and nodded. I asked mum to make tiny cuts on our hands, which we did then we held hands for a few minutes before applying the healing potion. "I hope Zac won't mind..." Mimi said quietly. "Zac's stubborn. But I'm sure after some time he'll be fine" I smiled and gave Mimi a hug.

I spent time with mum and I had a vision of Zac using his powers against a couple of life guards (Gabe and Luca), I told mum. "Mimi will have seen it too, sweetheart. They really need to talk" mum told me.

I decided to go to the beach for a bit, I took my shoes off and felt the sand between my toes and just breathed in the sea air. "What do we have here?" I heard and turned around, Gabe and Luca. I groaned in disgust. "Don't get too close to the water Santos, you might need saving" Luca smirked. I ignored them and saw a dorsal fin break through the water, one of my shark friends. Thankfully the two dummies didn't see the fin, my shark friend swam off after I discretely shook my head. Gabe and Luca then grabbed me by my arms and ankles - I screamed as they approached the water.
