Chapter 46

Caitlan's POV:

Me and mum went to the Grotto, Mimi was showing Ondina and Sirena the Duplication Spell. Mum told them how that's her favourite spell and she and the pod would make kelp gardens. "It's the spell I used for your bracelets as well" I smiled.

Mum has to head to work, she didn't need me to help so I had a cup of tea and sat on the balcony. I went to the Grotto and saw Ondina and Erik, Ondina was trying to get Poseidon out of the Grotto but he was purring and Erik cuddled him. "What's going on?" I demanded and Ondina panicked "Please don't tell Rita. Erik found me a pearl and wanted to make me a bracelet, so I'm showing him the Duplication Spell." Ondina pleaded. "Five minutes. And don't be horrible to Poseidon, this is his home." I scolded. "He seems to like you by the way. Cats have good judge of character" I smiled slightly and left.

I sat back on the balcony, I don't know how long until mum kissed my cheek holding Poseidon. "Hey sweetheart" she smiled, "hey mum I thought you had to work?" I said. "Nice to see you too" she laughed "it's such a lovely day I thought I'd bring work home" mum shrugged and sat next to me.

I looked out at the ocean, then mum's phone rang. It was Carly, mum stood next to me as she was talking to her, saying Poseidon was with us before hanging up. We turned around and Poseidon was gone. "That's strange." I said. "Sirena was acting a little strange earlier, has something happened?" Mum asked and I said "not that I can think of, except-" I then stopped myself. "Except what?" Mum asked a bit stern. I told her about Ondina bringing Erik to the Grotto, and she begged me not to tell mum. "Please don't be angry with me mum" I said sadly, "it's not you I'm angry with baby" mum put her hand to my face reassuringly, then we headed to the Grotto.

Ondina, Sirena and Mimi had four Poseidon's. "What on earth is going on?!" Mum said angrily. The three of them were terrified. "Rita we can explain" Mimi stuttered. Ondina told us how she accidentally turned Erik into a cat, she was using her Moon Ring to duplicate the pearls, but she turned and hit the Golden Spider Coral, turning Erik into a cat, Mimi tried to undo the spell with her Moon Ring, but she duplicated Erik and Poseidon. "This is really irresponsible of you, and to bring Erik in my home, knowing how I don't completely trust him, but if you would have asked me first I'd have allowed it. I'm very disappointed in you Ondina." Mum scolded. "And you two should have told me about this mishap" mum added to Sirena and Mimi. "Is there any Golden Spider Coral left?" I asked, Mimi turned the vase over and a single spec came out, she duplicated it to make enough to reverse the spell and to replace the wasted lot earlier.

Erik was turned back to normal. "Next time, if you want to bring Erik here, you run it by me." Mum told Ondina, who nodded. "This is your final chances, if you disobey my rules or disrespect them again, you won't be welcome here" Mum warned before leaving. "You said you wouldn't tell!" Ondina whined. "I didn't exactly know you turned Erik into a cat! You should have been responsible with your Moon Ring. And you shouldn't have asked me to keep a secret like this from my mum. Just next time if you want to bring Erik, make sure you do ask my mum. If you want us to trust you Erik, please at least respect my mum's wishes" I said before Erik left. Ondina apologised and we hugged it out.

I met Zac, Cam and Evie for a drink at the cafe. Sirena and Mimi brought in an orange kitten for Carly (Carly kept finding the possible Poseidon's and thought he was a stray). Carly fell in love instantly. "What's his name?" She asked. "How about Erik?" Mimi suggested and we all laughed. "What about Hades?" I said and Carly loved it.

A few days later, mum went to see Uncle Max so I went for a swim to one of the reefs and I thought since I've never really walked on Mako except when it came to the merman chamber (and that time when Zac found out about me and mum being mermaids), I walked onto the beach and just admired the ocean and the beauty of the island.
