Chapter 38

Caitlan's POV:

Lyla, Sirena and Nixie went back to the pod a couple weeks ago, I've visited them in the pod a couple of times. Despite the trident being destroyed, the stone could still be active, so Sirena gave it to mum to keep safe in the Grotto.

Me and Zac have been hanging out again, which I'm happy about. He's coming round today. "Mum, is Evie okay to come into the Grotto?" I asked. "Of course, my darling" mum smiled and brought me in a hug.

Evie and Zac arrived at the front door. "Hey guys. Come on in" I smiled. "Wanna see something awesome?" Zac asked Evie as we walked towards the bookcase. I opened the passageway, and Evie was in awe.

We met mum in the Grotto. "No way, this place is incredible" Evie looked around. She picked up the photo I edited of me, mum and dad. "I thought your dad died before you were born?" She said confused. "He did, I edited myself into the photo for mum" I said and I saw mum tear up a bit. "It doesn't even look photoshopped" Evie said shocked. "I'm just that good" I laughed.

"Wow Rita, you've so much treasure! What's your favourite one?" Evie asked curiously. Mum smiled and said "this beauty here" pulling me into a hug. "Awww" Zac and Evie said in unison, I threw a cushion at them both.

The four of us went in the pool. "So what type of magic can you do Cait?" Evie asked. I made a water ball and turned it to fireworks, both Zac and Evie were impressed. "I learnt from the best" I smiled at mum. "How come you don't wear a Moon Ring like the other mermaids?" Zac asked. "I earned mine when I was twelve, but since mum hasn't worn hers since she left the pod, I don't wear mine either" I shrugged.

Evie joined me, Zac and mum on a swim. She obviously couldn't dive as far as we could, but we still had fun and some of our sea creature friends joined us.

That's this chapter guys, it's a short one but it's a wee filler before going onto s2 arc!
