The sounds of woods and forests seep in shortly after the lengthy sounds of nothingness of a world that has since discarded us. Extraterrestrial ships fly by, but there is no way of knowing what their true intentions are. The environment is cold, but not snowy, swampy, but not humid. There are the sounds of creatures, some that even the most knowledgeable of explorers are unable to distinguish.
I wake up, alone in a forest it seems. I don't know what happened, nor how I got here. I am naked, with no clothing whatsoever. My body heats up as the cold temperature tries to put me down. I don't know who or... what I am... but I resemble something human, at least.
However, before I had more time to contemplate, I could hear rustling of the trail behind me, someone kicking apart gravel, coming up behind me. Before I can gather my senses, I'm lifted and taken away by the mysterious figure, much deeper into the forest as the sky grows darker.
???: So, this is where you ended up... You're coming with me...
I don't know if I can speak, or even how to, but I try to keep my composure as I'm taken through the grass. I can see the wood from the trees move, I swear of it. As I'm dragged along, I can still feel my own skin flake like I'm decaying almost, but at least I'm a human. Am I even human? Maybe that's a question for another night...
???: It gets dangerous at night... and you have answers for me. It's not much further now... what you give me may decide your fate...
I am dragged through the forest up until we reach a cabin. I black out again, then wake up perhaps minutes later to the sight of a lantern, an odd... fusion lantern, by the looks of it. It seems to glow without a flame... Looking around, the wood is damp, partially rotted in places around the roof, and that lantern is the only source of light in this room.
I am still naked, but even worse, I am now tied to a squeaky chair. The figure who took me earlier comes in once he hears my chair, slouching down to my eye level. It's no figure, it is a man who has short hair and glasses, who seems to wear a tarnished lab coat fixed with makeshift armor.
???: Look at you... what the hell happened to you? The plague chewed you up... Can you speak?
I open my mouth. I attempt to breathe, to articulate any form of vocal cords. I let out a raspy whimper, then cough, then feel a new ability surface within me.
Me: H-hi...
???: Fuck, I should've thought of that! JUNE!!!
The man speaks in a different language, calling out to what I discover as a robotic woman. She comes rushing in with a large cup. The robotic lady missing half of a face plate of what made her human, now a metal skeleton, attempts to jam the cup in my own face.
She's missing an arm, and her one leg is made of a darker wood, but she gets me to drink the liquid. I find out it's water fast, and I guzzle it down as it trickles down my bare, ruined chest. The water reeks of dirt, but it tastes like metal, however, it's better than nothing at all.
June: Dwi-dwi-dr-dri-drink...
The voice of the robot woman is skewered, distorted, yet soft, and somehow, she conveys her message through trial and error. I wonder what world I woke up in, and why I don't remember anything at all. If I really were human, born... properly... I would remember being a child, would I not? I... am lost...
???: Who are you?
Me: I don't... know.
???: Do you even know where you are?
Me: No...
???: Then how the hell do you explain all of this? June... leave.
June: O-o-ooo-ooo-ok-okay... d-oh... *static* doctor...
