We resume my story inside the Cosmodrome. It's one of the safer spots that was formerly the most useful back when we were trying to establish links to the rest of the solar system. It was another operation that was led by a rather young Y/N, the warlock Y/N. Apparently-
Gaia: *Womp-womp-womp...* He was armed with nothing but a Duke prototype hand cannon, an old shotgun from a loot cache, and Cryptarch robes that covered his nanosuit. His ghost was borderline terrified, but he seemed to make it out okay.
Y/N: A hero like that... who was the reason we are able to bounce around now... just gone, poof.
Gaia: Yeah.
I fly my ship above a transmat zone, where I link up with Seri on the ground. I land next to her and she doesn't say anything at first, just standing still.
Y/N: You alright, Seri?
Seri: Yeah... just had a long talk with Kovik...
Y/N: Oh, your ghost?
Kovik: She does have a ghost. There is one hole in your story, Y/N.
Y/N: Oh... like what?
Kovik: I thought Ada-1 despised Y/N?
Y/N: Oh, no, no, it was because she really liked him and never took the chance she should've taken. I think also... there was a sense of rivalry between both of them.
Kovik: Understandable.
This ghost has a very thick... Russian-like accent. Its name also sounds very... Fallen.
Seri: Just know... t-that... my love... I-I don't blame you for any of it.
She puts her hand on my shoulder, and I stare through my helmet into hers, assuming we're trying to lock eyes right now.
Seri: I just thought you were lying to test me.
Y/N: Test you? What... wicked person made you think that? I don't need to test you. I know you're Serenity-1, the same one who carried Y/N-... ME... from that bar, who would sleep with me every night when I was too sick to move under my own power.
Seri: No, n-not to see me... but... to see if I changed.
Y/N: Your dire grip on me after I spat it out... showed me you haven't changed based on the memories that were given to me. Come here, mama-bear... come here...
I hug her again, our armor clacking together and our straps or leathers creaking as I hold her tighter against me. Other guardians who land on the zone see us and either snicker or mock us in silence. Others... also jump off the side of the landing zone, which makes me wonder where they're going.
That was proof I needed more practice. I still slip up and struggle to stay focused, even on things in front of me. I let go of Seri for a second and hold her hands, then together, we run out of the zone and all the way across the combat zone. She bans the use of my sparrow and her skimmer, both of us running all the way across the Cosmodrome, even into buildings, until we reach an area that looks like a hotspot for Fallen.
In the middle of the area, there's a giant tank that is dubbed a "Walker". It has six legs, a massive cannon, a little explosive turret, the ability to spew grenades, shred enemies up close with a minigun, let out an electronic pulse, fabricate Shank drones-
Gaia: *Womp-womp-womp...* and overall, it's a-
Y/N: I got it, I got it!
Seri: You have one rule, sweetie! You gotta defeat that machine without guns!
Y/N: WHAT?! How is that possible?! I don't know how to use my light!
Seri: Oh... right... well... hmmm... I'm sorry, I didn't think about-
