Chase: Remember what I said?
Y/N: Just be quiet and respectful. I got it.
Chase: Yeah, maybe it wasn't a good idea to bring you here... but... we agreed a long time ago that we can't keep you to one of us. Every girl has to get their share and... well... since you're back in town, I gotta keep that rule.
Y/N: I guess that's alright. I just wish... you know... I knew more about what you guys were really feeling. Chase, if I'm being honest, I do know now why Y/N loved you guys so much. And... I can't say I would love you guys the same way he did... but I like you guys a lot.
Chase: You should just... wing it, and uhh... do what you really want.
Y/N: Do what I really want?
Chase: You're Y/N, THE Y/N, stop thinking about the other versions of yourself so much and comparing them to you. My past boyfriend... that Y/N... was miserable, unhappy, and I was just waiting for the day he'd ask me to take his life away. Yes... it's a grim thought, but I just wanted to make him happy before he died.
Y/N: W-what?
Chase: Serenity, Mox, all of us agreed to do it if you asked for it too. It was until we... we did... we got even more intimate did those thoughts really change. Serenity and later Mox wanted to kill Ira when you passed.
Y/N: Ira?
Chase: The doctor.
"It's not what he did to me! OR YOU! It's what he did to... US!!! He lied..." keeps repeating over and over in my head. I have to look down at the table until the thoughts go away. Part of me hated the doctor for my diagnosis and his inability to predict when I'd day. However, a more recent thought forgives the doctor for his mistakes, as cancer isn't something you can ever accurately predict. Each case of cancer comes out different it seems, but they don't have to worry about that anymore with the SIVA-infused cure that will adapt and learn.
Y/N: Well... SIVA is the reason he no longer has to worry.
Chase: I know and it's ironic. This is the right way to use SIVA, not as a tool to rebuild but a tool to save others. It's crazy... that shit was like a plague and now it's a cure. I'll never get it.
Y/N: Yeah... but at least I won't get it anymore...
I reach out and touch her hand, then she quickly grabs it and holds it. Upon looking into her eyes, I see out of the corner of my vision Mox, who's walking into the ramen place with street clothing on. No armor, but a cropped sweater over a crop top, showing off her silver-white skin muscles while she wears baggy sweatpants down low. Combine that with her dark purple hair and dark makeup and you have something that I can't stop staring at.
Chase: Y/N do you have casual clothes at all? Mox gave me an idea...
She doesn't move for a second, just standing there, studying the back of Chase's head as Chase transmats out of her armor and into some carbon fiber looking, oversized long sleeve and some short shorts. It seems I'm the only one who doesn't have real clothing other than the rags I woke up with. I guess I'll sport the regular guardian look whilst they look like models in trendy clothing.
Chase: She's not moving, is she?
Y/N: No...
She's locked in on me now, holding her one finger out of nervousness in an attempt to ground herself. She just stares at me and I stare back, not doing anything other than holding that finger and scrunching up out of fear. Her ghost comes out and tries to speak to her, which doesn't really work as much.
I can visibly see her gulp before she walks over to the table. I can tell she's struck with disbelief before sitting down at the table next to Chase. Chase is also mouthing the words, "remember what I said", urgently. Chase continues holding my hand, scooting over slightly to give Mox more room on their side of the table.
