Chapter 53: Properly Strapped

We're into the next day now.

Music plays from a nearby band playing in the Tower's courtyard. It's not music I recognize, but it's definitely catchy. It seems to be some kind of hip-hop and I try to drown it as best as I can to talk to Banshee with his mutters. Mox, Seri, and I went out as Chase needed to rest her legs after a workout we had. I won't disclose what kind of workout it was, but that's beside the point.

I need a secondary weapon, one that specifically uses energy. Mox and Banshee are still debating on which is better, an energy hand cannon or a shotgun. I'm honestly so fed up with how long this has taken that I'm willing to pick up a fusion rifle at this point, which apparently isn't a bad choice either, a regular fusion rifle, that is, not one of those linear ones.

Seri pulls on my shoulder, and I turn around.

Seri: While they're still losing it over special ammo and double primary arguments, here's a mix of the two to hold for a second.

She hands me a giant hand cannon, another giant hand cannon that's even bigger, even chunkier than any hand cannon I've seen. I aim it at the distant wall and the scope starts to whirr and adjust to my oculars in my helmet. Yes, this large hand CANNON has a scope with it.

Y/N: This is what I was thinking, but it's so unwieldy.

Seri: It takes some getting used to... b-but I could always help you practice. Same with Mox... This model is called the "Eriana's Vow", made from the unique hand cannon she wielded in her fight against Crota.

Y/N: Did she survive?

Seri: No... It... teaches us lessons to not underestimate our enemies. Eris Morn was part of her fireteam, and-... W-whatever, there is a lot of background. The point is, this is the highest caliber hand cannon that can be consistently made and attuned based on the schematics we have. The ammo is so large that it falls into the special ammo category.

Y/N: Big... heavier rounds?

Seri: Yes... but thankfully, not a heavy weapon that required more heavy ammo that no guardian can afford to spare. You're already using an exotic-classed weapon which uses a lot of your energy to wield. This is why we can only use one exotic weapon and armor piece at one time... Also, conflict... I will not tell you how many times a guardian has passed because they tried to put two exotic armor pieces together. Don't try it.

I suddenly feel sluggish, the hand cannon becoming hard to hold as it grows more comfortable in my hand, which is oddly contradicting. I quickly hand it back to her and I feel more refreshed.

Seri: You felt it, didn't you?

Y/N: I did...

Seri: It has a lot of power... It's heaps beyond the exotic-class weapons we had a decade ago. I never use this because I favor the more versatile hand cannons, like the First Curse or the Hawkmoon. However, this... might be perfect for you. I wonder if we can somehow... make it a legendary-class, somehow... Maybe remove its synergy with barriers?

Mox: I heard synergies and barriers come out of your mouth. Where did you learn that terminology and why are you not discussing Y/N's new gun with us?

Seri: Eriana's Vow.

Mox takes out her Eriana's Vow, and unlike Seri's chrome cannon, it's a black cannon with a flaming barrel.

Mox: What about it? He's already attuned to the Thunderlord.

Seri: We have the schematics... That is why we all have it, right? You are overthinking this.

Mox: Reverse engineering... Banshee, I want you to fetch the archive and build something new. We take the Vow... and then we dismantle it into something... less draining.
