*The scene opens with Riley entering a class at school with Ryan. It's their junior year and it's nearing the end of the school year.*

Ryan: Just a few more days until summer. You got any plans?

Riley: A few but I'm gonna be mostly busy working.

Ryan: Working? Over the summer? Are you crazy?

Riley: It's nothing too crazy. I'm just helping the neighbors across the street with stuff around their house and they pay me for it.

Ryan: Aren't you rich already? Why do you need more money?

Riley: My family is rich. That doesn't mean I am rich myself, Ryan.

Ryan: I mean, yeah. But some of that money is being sent your way isn't it?

Riley: Yeah, but I wanna make my own money just in case anything were to happen to my family.

Ryan: Do you think something bad is gonna happen to them?

Riley: No. Not at all. But if something does I don't want them to have to use their money for the expenses. I wanna be the one to pay for it. It's the least I could do, you know, as gratitude for raising me and paying for my entire upbringing.

Ryan: Huh. Well that's a very nice gesture. But if I was working hard for extra money I'd be more worried about spending it on myself than others.

Riley: Well I intend on spending it on myself too. You know, for college stuff.

Ryan: College stuff? Aren't you applying for scholarships?

Riley: Yes.

Ryan: Well then why do you need to work for college money?

Riley: Well, I intend for the scholarships to pay for my student expenses, tuition, all that jazz. But I need money for on campus stuff.

Ryan: Like drinks and food?

Riley: Precisely.

*The two are suddenly joined by a third person. They both turn to see Bryce sliding his chair in next to them.*

Bryce: What's up goobers?

Ryan: Nothing much. Riley here was just talking to me about his plans for the summer.

Bryce: What's he saying?

Ryan: Well if I had to put it one way, it's definitely a Riley thing to do.

Riley: What's that supposed to mean?

Ryan: You know. It's like in your personality to do something like that. It's just who you are.

Riley: I'm not so sure I like that thought process. What do you think, Bryce?

Bryce: Well considering I still have no fucking clue what either of you are talking about, I can't really say I agree or disagree.

Ryan: Riley's gonna be working over the summer.

Bryce: What?

Ryan: Yeah. He's helping his neighbors in order to get money so that he can help his family out in the future.

Bryce: Hmmm. That is a Riley thing to do.

Riley: Oh, come on!

Bryce: What? It's not like we mean anything bad by it.

Riley: Well then what do you mean by it?

Bryce: I don't know.

Riley: If you don't know what you mean by it then how do you know you don't mean anything bad?
