*The scene opens with Chester sitting in a restaurant by himself, checking his watch for the time as a waiter approaches his table.*

Waiter: Still looking over the menu, or would you like to order now?

Chester: No, no. I told the lady who sat me down I was waiting for someone else to arrive.

Waiter: Oh, sorry.

Chester: It's fine. If you don't mind, I could use some more water.

Waiter: Of course, sir.

*The waiter takes Chester's and leaves to refill it as Chester checks his watch again, nervously.*

(Chester): What's taking her so long? Did she flake on me? There's no way, right? She wouldn't do that.

*The waiter returns and places the glass on the table and notices Chester sweating profusely.*

Waiter: Are you alright, sir?

Chester: Hm? Oh! Yeah, sorry. I'm just really nervous right now.

Waiter: Ah, I get it. Waiting on a date I presume?

Chester: Yeah. Can you tell it's the first one we've been on?

Waiter: Eh, you'd be surprised. I see married men nervous while waiting for their wives.

Chester: Really?

Waiter: Yeah. Just try to stay calm. I'll be back when your date arrives.

Chester: That sounds good.

*Chester waits an additional thirty minutes and has no sign of his date arriving. He starts to become discouraged as a woman with a pair of glasses sits in the seat across from him.*

Chester: Can I help you?

Mother: I'm sure you could, but I could help you.

Chester: Hm?

Mother: I've been sitting in this restaurant just as long as you have. I think it's pretty safe to say that date of yours isn't coming.

Chester: How do you know about that?

Mother: It's pretty obvious. What kind of guy sits here for almost forty-five minutes and doesn't order anything?

Chester: Alright then. But why are you talking to me now?

Mother: Because, I know how you've been feeling.

Chester: The hell are you talking about?

Mother: I've felt the same way before.

Chester: Lady, just cut to the damn chase, alright?

*Mother reaches out her hand and places it on top of Chester's.*

Mother: You're not going on this date because you like this woman.

Chester: What?

Mother: Don't worry. I'm not judging.

*Chester, now uncomfortable, pulls his hand away from Mother and looks around nervously.*

Mother: You're just trying to fit in. You're thinking that if you date someone, you can live a normal life. A life like the regular people live.

*Mother's words catch Chester's attention and he looks at her inquisitively.*

Chester: Regular people? What are you trying to say?

Mother: Even without these glasses I could tell you aren't a regular person. I can see it in your eyes.

*Mother leans in closer to Chester and lowers her voice.*
