Waylon POV
I walked down the stairs of my homes porch and onto the street. I sigh and glance back at the door. I wasn't gonna lie, I'm terribly nervous about being pushed to get a black series demon weapon.
Was I really that qualified? Sure, when we did the testing I was the only one in my class that passed both (with flying colors!), but a black demon series? Can I really handle one, a demon?
I turn from the porch and head down the street, in the distance I can see the giant school, where they keep the weapons deep below the premises. I never really went to actual school, so I don't really know how others my age will be like.
But Tsuhiko said I had a way with people. I could easily understand people, if I put my mind to it. But I choose to only get close to people I find seeing a lot, not really any point in talking to people you only see once.
I was closest to Tsuhiko of course. But I never got close enough to actually call her mom or mother. I just feel like I don't have the right to call her that. So I call her master or just by her first name. It seemed more appropriate seeing her family background.
She was born and almost killed by her drunk father before the whole world went to hell. She once said she was happy this happened to the world, so all the wicked assholes like her father would be dead.
Tsuhiko had long dark blue hair, dark eyes. She was tall and had a big bust. Nice figure and all, if she weren't so much of a tough woman, all the guys would be surrounding her, but she's the toughest person I know. Everyone under her command respects her and also fears her.
Thought she doesn't act like that with me. We're more like brother and sister if you'd ask me.
Since the military took notice of my training under her, they monitored my progress, which was supposedly very good. Sooner or later, they permitted me to get a black demon series weapon, which I was getting today.
Tsuhiko at first rejected the idea, but I told her not to worry about it, it was my choice. If I can get a black demon series, then I can join a moon demon company squad, and possibly get more money than any other scrub in the military.
That means I can finally financially help Tsuhiko, instead of being a freeloader.
I smile at this idea as I head up the stairs and head inside the building. The room where I would be selecting my weapon was supposedly under the school. Such a weird spot for the military to be operating.
I ignore all the stares I get as I walk past students and soon go into a room with a single door. I turn the handle and push it open, the creaking noise sending a shiver down my spine.
"Hello~?" I call inside as I enter. Nothing responds so I begin down the stairs, each step I get more nervous.
Soon, I find myself at a door, and I slowly push it open. Inside the room is a large circled interior. Everywhere there are giant faces, totems faces like from tribes. At the base of each face is a weapon. But I notice that some are gone now. I tilt my head and shrug.
That must mean others have chosen theirs before me. I wonder if I'll get paired with them? I push the notion aside and see someone walking up to me.
The man looked rather bored. He had short black hair, and narrow eyes. He was wearing a military uniform, so he must be my superior. I give his a salute and he waves it off.
"None of that. I'm already tired because of those other brats. Your Waylon Kojima?" He asked, walking around me in interest.
"Y-Yeah. I-I mean, yes sir!" I said quickly.
The man chuckled. "Tense, huh? Well, I would be too. My name is Guren. Lieutenant Guren." He said, walking in front of me again.
"Quite a handsome and good attitude, get any ladies?" He asked.
"Huh? Excuse me?" I mumble.
"Woman? Got any relationships going on?" He asked, walking up one of the sets of stairs and sitting on them.
I squirm a bit. "N-No sir. I don't really talk to much people my own age." I said, looking around me again.
"Hmmm? Well, whatever. Another virgin, great. Pick and let's get a move on." Guren said while standing again and walking to the door, leaning near it.
I ignore the comment he gave and trace along the faces, looking at each of the weapons laid out. There were standard ones, and a large assortment of them. Though not much to choose from.
I stop suddenly and stare at a set of weapons. I walk up to them and stare.
A pair of twin pistols. They looked to be some sort of glock series, but on the edge of each pistol had a blade attached. So I can go up close and far with these...
"Can I pick these?" I asked, turning my head to Guren while pointing at the pistols.
Guren caught what I was pointing at and frowned. "I guess. But those ones have never been tamed before." He said.
"Never been tamed? Did it kill its user?" I asked.
Guren's eyes went sharp. "Over twenty people have tried, all either turned to ash or were turned into a demon." He said with a dark tone.
I flinched and looked back down at the bladed pistols. Would it be worth it if I chose these? It seems to be too risky, but these are obviously the best weapons suited for me. I've trained with several blades such as knifes and I'm an ace shot with a pistol.
Both of my expertise bundled nicely right in front me. Only problem is that their dangerous as all hell to wield. I could turn into a demon. Or turn to ash like Guren said.
I bite my lip and lower my hand to them, taking a hold of both at the same time.
At first, nothing happened.
"Huh? Weird, I thought-!" I started, but I was then pulled into a black void of darkness, feeling as if I'd been pulled under a large pool of tar.
